The position requires a can-do mindset, adaptability, accurate documentation, practical problem solving, and consistent attention to safety, cleanliness, accuracy, and work quality.Key\nResponsibilities\nParticipate in a culture of respect for others and promote a collaborative environment.\nMaintain an orderly, clean, and safe shop in accordance with OSHA and company safety standards.\nEmbrace changing priorities and approach shop and prototype needs with a can-do, solutions-focused mindset.\nManage shop tools, consumables, and inventory; identify replenishment needs and support procurement or vendor coordination.\nTroubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems associated with shop equipment and prototype work.\nSet up, operate as authorized, and maintain CNC machines, welders, lifts, and general fabrication tools.\nSupport R&D operations, including test setup, teardown, equipment staging, and data collection assistance.\nWork with engineering and fabrication teams to build, test, evaluate, and refine vehicle systems.\nAssist with prototype assembly, modification, fabrication, and integration of structural, mechanical, and electrical systems.\nComplete assigned prototype-build tasks in accordance with the project plan, drawings, instructions, and safety requirements.\nMaintain accurate prototype-build notes, equipment logs, and records of completed work. Valuable Final Product Well-documented and accurate prototype assembly, fabrication, and testing work completed. Position Statistics\nPercentage of shop “clean/up time” compared with “dirty/down time.”\nPercentage of build tasks completed on time measured against the project plan.\nCompletion and accuracy of required build notes and shop records. Physical and Work Environment\nRequirements This is a hands-on position in an R&D, fabrication, vehicle build, shop, and facility maintenance environment. The employee must be able to perform physical work, lift reasonable weight, climb ladders, work at heights when required, safely use appropriate personal protective equipment and tools, and communicate on a technical level. Duties and priorities may change as shop, prototype, facility, and operational needs evolve.\nRequirements Required\nQualifications\n2+ years of experience in mechanical repair, shop support, vehicle assembly, fabrication, or a related hands-on role.\nStrong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting skills.\nFamiliarity with hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, and applicable safety practices.\nAbility to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.\nAbility to perform physical work, lift reasonable weight, climb ladders, and work comfortably at heights when required.\nSelf-motivated, organized, and able to work independently or collaboratively as priorities evolve.\nComputer literacy, valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation.\nPreferred\nQualifications\nExperience supporting facilities in aerospace, automotive, manufacturing, fabrication, prototype, or R&D environments.\nWorking knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, lighting, building electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and general building systems.\nExperience performing facility inspections and identifying safety, maintenance, cleanliness, and operational deficiencies.\nExperience with preventive maintenance programs, work orders, service histories, inspection records, and equipment logs.\nExperience coordinating facility access and supporting qualified vendors or service providers.\nExperience supporting facility layout changes, equipment installation, workspace modifications, or infrastructure improvements.\nExperience managing
