The EHS Manager position serves as a strategic partner to site leadership, driving a strong culture of safety, environmental stewardship, compliance, and continuous improvement across manufacturing and laboratory operations.\nKey Responsibilities\nThe EHS Manager is responsible for driving site EHS programs and proactively escalating risks to site leadership. This individual will serve as a key contact for regulatory agencies, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT, while ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations.\nResponsibilities include:\nAdvise and support site risk assessment processes to identify, evaluate, and mitigate workplace hazards.\nPartner with project teams to ensure EHS requirements are incorporated into capital projects, facility modifications, and operational initiatives.\nEstablish robust risk management processes and ensure effective implementation throughout the site.\nLead and oversee investigations involving injuries, illnesses, environmental releases, near misses, and non-injury incidents to identify root causes and drive corrective and preventive actions.\nLead investigations into serious incidents and adverse events.\nProvide timely, high-quality technical EHS guidance and support to employees and leadership.\nDesign, deliver, and oversee EHS training programs to ensure regulatory compliance and employee competency.\nConduct routine workplace inspections and assessments to verify compliance with site policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.\nDevelop and manage an internal EHS audit program to assess compliance with legal and company standards while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.\nEstablish site EHS policies, objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), and performance targets aligned with Samsung Biologics' long-term EHS strategy.\nMonitor, analyze, and report EHS performance metrics, implementing actions to address trends and improve performance.\nDevelop and maintain programs that effectively manage environmental, health, and safety risks within an integrated EHS management system.\nReview change proposals (including capital projects and new product introductions) to identify potential EHS issues and participate in their resolution. Support the site contractor safety program.\nSupport the site emergency response program. \nCollaborate with EHS professionals across Samsung Biologics global sites to share best practices, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nMaintain and continuously improve site EHS policies, procedures, and management systems.\nEnsure accurate and timely EHS reporting to regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.\nRequired Qualifications:\nEducation\nBachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Science, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline required.\nExperience\nMinimum of 4 years of experience developing, implementing, and managing EHS programs, preferably within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or regulated manufacturing environments.\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities\nStrong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, NIOSH, ANSI, NFPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.\nExperience supporting manufacturing and laboratory operations.\nKnowledge of EHS management systems, risk assessment methodologies, incident investigation processes, and regulatory compliance programs.\nDemonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.\nStrong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related business applications.\nPreferred Qualifications\nBachelors or Master's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.\nProfessional certifications preferred, including:Certified Safety Professional (CSP)\nCertified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)\nConstruction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)\nCertified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)\nOther EHS-related professional certifications\n\nThe anticipated salary range for this position in Maryland is $93,225 to $124,300 plus annual bonus, when eligible.
