For the latest news, visit news.samsung.com/us.\nRole and Responsibilities\nThe Director, Payroll leads accurate, timely and compliant payroll for Samsung’s North America subsidiaries across the U.S. and Canada. The role owns payroll operations, tax and compliance, controls and audit, and vendor and budget management, and drives automation and continuous improvement of payroll services. The Director reports to the NA SSC Lead and partners closely with the SSC Transformation function (HRIS, Data Management and AX), HR Operations, Finance and Samsung HQ.\nKey Responsibilities\nPayroll Operations\nLead end-to-end payroll for multiple entities and pay groups, including multi-state U.S. and Canada payroll.\nEnsure accurate processing of pay, bonuses, equity, benefits deductions, garnishments and off-cycle payments.\nManage year-end processing, including W-2s and related filings.\nPartner with Global Mobility on expatriate payroll processing, including allowance calculation and reconciliation against HQ data [confirm ownership split with Global Mobility].\nCompliance & Controls\nEnsure compliance with federal, state and local payroll and tax regulations.\nOwn payroll controls, reconciliations and audit readiness, including ICFR/SOX.\nPartner with Finance, Tax, Benefits and Legal on payroll accounting and compliance matters.\nSystems & Improvement\nPartner with the SSC Transformation function (HRIS and Data Management) on payroll systems, integrations, upgrades and data integrity (Workday and UKG).\nLead process automation and standardization to improve accuracy and efficiency.\nDefine payroll KPIs and SLAs and report performance.\nPartner with the AX (AI Transformation) team to identify, prioritize and deliver AI and automation opportunities across payroll processes.\nVendor & Budget Management\nOwn payroll vendor relationships and ensure vendor SLAs are met as defined and agreed to by both parties.\nManage payroll vendor contracts, licenses and budget, and approve related spend within delegated authority.\nLeadership\nLead, coach and develop the payroll team, and build succession and cross-training.\nServe as the escalation point for complex payroll issues, subsidiary leaders and Samsung HQ stakeholders.\nAnticipate future knowledge, skills and abilities, perform a skills gap analysis, and build the team’s capability for an increasingly automated payroll operating model.\nSkills and Qualifications\nQualifications\nRequired\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field.\n10+ years of payroll experience, including 5+ years leading payroll teams in a multi-entity, multi-state or multi-country environment.\nDeep knowledge of U.S. payroll tax and wage-and-hour compliance.\nExperience with enterprise payroll and HCM systems (e.g., Workday, UKG, ADP).\nStrong controls, reconciliation and audit experience (SOX/ICFR).\nExperience owning vendor relationships, contracts, licenses and budget in a payroll or shared services environment.\nPreferred\nCPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification.\nHands-on experience leading payroll process automation.\nProven experience leading cross-functional projects, such as system implementations.\nExperience in a shared services environment.\nCanadian payroll experience, including CRA remittances and year-end requirements.\nExperience with expatriate or global mobility payroll, including allowance processing and reconciliation with headquarters.\nLife @ Samsung - https://www.samsung.com/us/careers/life-at-samsung/\nBenefits @ Samsung - https://www.samsung.com/us/careers/benefits/\nRegular full-time employees (salaried or hourly) have access to benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Employee Purchase Program, Tuition Assistance (after 12 months), Paid Time Off, Student Loan Program (after 12 months), Wellness Incentives, and many more.
