The Staff Engineer will identify opportunities to improve Infra reliability, efficiency, cost effectiveness, visibility, and scalability through the effective application of technology, data, systems, automation, and standardized processes. The successful candidate will work closely with Infra Engineering, Operations, Facilities, Procurement, Supply Chain, IT, Finance, Cost Engineering, equipment owners, and other stakeholders to develop and implement solutions that improve operational performance while supporting Samsung Austin Semiconductor's long-term growth.Role and Responsibilities\nHere’s What You’ll Be Responsible For:\nProvide technical leadership for Infra systems supporting semiconductor manufacturing operations.\nDevelop technology roadmaps aligned with operational and business objectives.\nLead digital transformation initiatives to replace manual or fragmented processes with scalable digital solutions.\nServe as a subject-matter expert (SME) to translate operational requirements into technical solutions.\nEvaluate and implement emerging technologies, including AI/ML, IoT, predictive analytics, and digital twins.\nIdentify and quantify cost-saving opportunities across CapEx, OpEx, and maintenance strategies.\nDevelop data-driven models to analyze Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), equipment lifecycles, and technology investments.\nEstablish systems and governance to improve visibility, control, and tracking of Infra costs.\nConduct should-cost analysis, benchmarking, and cost modeling to optimize spend.\nAnalyze and make recommendations to help improve cost control focusing on major and minor indices for each sub-department’s processes and programs\nImplement mechanisms to track cost-engineering initiatives from identification through realized savings.\nLead the management of Infra equipment systems and associated digital platforms.\nOptimize equipment lifecycle management, asset visibility, and maintenance planning.\nIntegrate equipment management systems with ERP, CMMS, procurement, and other enterprise platforms.\nDrive improvements in equipment utilization, reliability, and maintenance effectiveness.\nEstablish standardized data structures, workflows, and performance dashboards.\nPartner with Supply Chain and Procurement to optimize spare-parts forecasting and inventory levels.\nDevelop data-driven strategies for critical-spare identification and obsolescence management.\nReduce excess/obsolete inventory while balancing operational risk and equipment availability.\nLead continuous-improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and engineering methodologies to standardize global processes.\nLead the deployment of large-scale projects that are cross-functional in nature and have visibility to company executives.\nProject management, Daily/Weekly/Monthly metric reporting, and status updates.\nExpectation is to have proficiency in project management, reporting, data visualization, and data-mining.\nSkills and Qualifications\nHere's what you'll need:\nMaster's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.\nSemiconductor manufacturing or semiconductor facilities/infrastructure experience.\nExperience with equipment management systems, CMMS, ERP, MES, or related enterprise platforms.\nExperience with SAP or similar ERP systems.\nExperience with spare-parts management, inventory optimization, or maintenance supply chain.\nExperience with Power BI, SQL, Python, data analytics, or similar analytical technologies.\nExperience with AI/ML, predictive analytics, IoT, digital twins, or industrial automation.\nLean Six Sigma certification or equivalent continuous-improvement experience.\nExperience developing business cases and demonstrating financial ROI.\nExperience managing technology roadmaps and large-scale transformation programs.\nThe current base salary range for this role is between $131,000 - $174,500. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.\nTotal Rewards\nAt Samsung Austin Semiconductor, base pay is just one part of our total compensation package.
