At Samsung Austin Semiconductor, we are Innovating Today to Power the Devices of Tomorrow.\nCome innovate with us!\nPosition Summary\nPCS Scrubber Engineer is responsible for the operation and maintenance of equipment that mitigates contamination and controls chemical/particle abatement within the semiconductor fabrication facility (Fab).This role bridges engineering, process control, and quality assurance, ensuring that our cleanrooms meet stringent contamination specifications while minimizing downtime and operational costs.\nRole and Responsibilities\nHere's What You'll Be Responsible For:\nDesign & Development\nConceptualize abatement solutions for new fabs or plant upgrades.\nTranslate process requirements into detailed equipment specifications.\nConduct risk assessments, hazard analyses (HIRA), and failure-mode analyses.\nProduce deliverables:Complete design drawing review, BOMs, and specification documents.Risk assessment reports and safety analysis documentation.\nImplementation & Commissioning\nCoordinate procurement, construction, and process teams for equipment installation.\nExecute commissioning plans, including tank/roll-line calibrations and performance qualification (PQ).\nDeliverables:Commissioning reports and qualification documentation.Approved instrumentation and control gate documentation.\nOperation & Optimization\nMonitor equipment performance metrics (e.g., deposition rates, DRE)\nRun continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, Poka-yoke) targeting contamination trends.\nWrite standard operating procedures (SOPs).\nMonthly KPI dashboards.\nSOPs validated for consistency.\nMaintenance & Reliability\nDevelop preventive maintenance (PM) schedules.\nTroubleshoot and resolve equipment failures via root-cause analysis.\nCoordinate spare-part logistics.\nPM plans, maintenance logs.\nCorrective action records.\nQuality Assurance & Compliance\nEnsure equipment complies site regulations and quality expectations.\nAudit record-keeping for traceability.\nQA audit findings, corrective action plans.\nStakeholder Collaboration\nAct as technical liaison between fab engineers, maintenance, and suppliers.\nLead cross-functional project teams for equipment upgrades or replacements.\nProject charters, meeting minutes.\nBudgeting & Cost Control\nCreate cost models for capital purchases, PM, and upgrades.\nTrack spend and forecast future capital needs.\nBudget variance reports, ROI analyses.\nSkills and Qualifications\nHere's What You'll Need:\nKey Competencies & Skills\nTechnical Proficiency\nMastery of semiconductor fab processes (ETCH, Implant, etc.).\nDesign & analysis of fluid dynamics, particle control, and plasma systems.\nEquipment reliability and data analysis.\nProblem-Solving\nRoot cause analysis using tools: 5-Why, Pareto, Fishbone.\nData-driven approach (ANOVA, DOE, Six Sigma).\nProject Management\nFleet management, budget monitoring, risk register maintenance.\nFamiliar with Agile/Lean constructs for fab equipment projects.\nCommunication\nEffective technical writing (specs, SOPs, reports).\nPresentations to management, fab shift leads, and suppliers.\nSafety & Compliance\nFamiliar with OSHA, ISO, EPA regulations.\nMinimum Qualifications\nEducation: Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.Eng.) in Mechanical/Industrial/Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.\nExperience: Semiconductor fab or cleanroom facility knowledge, focusing on equipment design, commissioning, or maintenance. Prior experience with abatement/particle control equipment is highly desirable.\nCertifications: Six Sigma Green/Black Belt (optional but preferred), OSHA 30-hour Industrial Safety (recommended)\nTechnical Skills: CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks), MATLAB/Python data analysis, PLC programming\nSoft Skills: Strong analytical mind, initiative, teamwork, and cross-functional communication.\nThe current base salary range for this role is between $95,000 - $120,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.\nThis position may include access to controlled information or technology under U.S. export control laws.
