As part of a long-term vision to expand U.S. chip production capacity, the Taylor facility positions top engineering talent at the center of a rapidly growing technology cluster with global impact.\nPosition Summary:\nThe Linux Systems Engineer is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Samsung SDSA’s Linux-based datacenter and state of the art FAB production environment. Working closely with senior engineers and IT operations, this individual ensures that all systems are reliable, secure, and aligned with business needs, while supporting disaster-recovery readiness and high-availability standards.\nResponsibilities:\nMaintain Red Hat and Oracle Linux platforms - perform routine administration, health checks, and security hardening across all production servers.\nExecute patching, upgrades, and migrations - apply OS updates, migrate workloads between hardware or virtual environments, and provide Tier-3 support for complex incidents.\nSupport virtualization infrastructure - create, configure, and manage virtual machines (KVM/VMware) to meet application capacity and performance requirements.\nMonitor and maintain MIS, MOS, and NES systems - ensure continuous operation of application servers in the Austin and Taylor datacenters, responding to alerts and performing corrective actions.\nParticipate in disaster-recovery planning and testing - assist in designing DR procedures, conduct scheduled fail-over drills, and verify recovery time and point objectives.\nManage asset inventory and configuration records - keep accurate documentation of server hardware, software licenses, and configuration baselines in alignment with ITIL practices.\nProvide on-call support - be ready to respond to critical incidents affecting FAB production lines and facility systems, ensuring minimal downtime.\nRequirements\nBachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience; industry certifications (e.g., RHCSA/RHCE, Linux+, Red Hat Certified Engineer) are a plus.\nProficient with troubleshooting including analysis of Linux system logs, diagnosing performance or reliability issues, and driving root-cause resolution.\nProficiency with Bash/KornShell/Powershell scripting tools.\nDemonstrated experience maintaining Linux-based open-source solutions.\nPossesses excellent communication skills and ability to partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nProvides effective knowledge transfer to peers.\nMaintains meticulous documentation habits and proactively shares insights that strengthen team capability.\nThrives in high-availability, fast-paced environments and responds effectively to urgent or after-hours support needs.\nMust be eligible to work in the US for any employer without restrictions.\nMust be willing and able to work full time onsite in Taylor, TX.\nBenefits\nSamsung SDSA offers a competitive salary, and a comprehensive suite of programs to support our employees:\nTop-notch medical, dental, vision and prescription coverage\nWellness program\nParental leave\n401K match and savings plan\nFlexible spending accounts\nLife insurance\nPaid Holidays\nPaid Time off\nAdditional benefits:\nSamsung SDS America, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
