This role is critical to balancing profitable growth with competitive, compelling offers to prospects. You’ll be at the intersection of underwriting strategy and sales execution-collaborating closely with our sales, actuarial, and product teams to evaluate risk, price appropriately, and push the boundaries of what’s possible in small group underwriting.\nWhat you will do:\nEvaluate employer group risk and determine appropriate pricing for level-funded plans\n\nCollaborate with Sales to craft competitive proposals and win business without compromising profitability\n\nAnalyze risk factors and make informed, data-driven decisions-balancing risk tolerance with growth goals\n\nHelp design and refine underwriting guidelines, processes, and tools as we scale\n\nPartner cross-functionally with Product, Actuarial, and Customer Success to continuously improve the end-to-end experience\n\nMonitor underwriting outcomes and market dynamics to inform ongoing pricing and risk strategies\n\nAbout you:\n3+ years of underwriting experience, ideally with a focus on small groups and/or level-funded products\n\nStrong understanding of health insurance pricing, risk assessment, and underwriting guidelines\n\nComfortable taking calculated risks to support business goals, especially in a fast-evolving startup environment\n\nExcellent communicator with the ability to explain underwriting decisions to non-technical stakeholders\n\nHighly collaborative and proactive-able to build strong working relationships across Sales, Actuarial, and beyond\n\nThrives in ambiguity and brings a continuous improvement mindset to their work\n\nExperience working at an insurtech, carrier, or TPA focused on the small group market\n\nFamiliarity with underwriting automation tools or systems\n\nStrong data analysis skills (Excel, etc.)\n\nBenefits:\nRemote company with a fully distributed team -
