For us, it’s not just where people live - it’s how they live.\nOur vision is to bring Sanctuary to major cities around the world: healthy, sovereign communities that sit on the edges of every modern metropolis.\nThe role\nSanctuary is a US-based construction and development company operating across 7 to 8 US entities with different payment structures, plus an India entity based in Delhi. We are looking for a precise, ownership-driven Accountant to own the books for both our US and India entities.\nYour first major task will be reconciling Sanctuary’s financial records in QuickBooks across the past 3 years. That means reviewing historical records, identifying discrepancies, and getting everything fully reconciled and up to date. From there, you will assist our finance team and own day-to-day accounting, payables, cash flow, and compliance across both countries.\nThis role is for someone who can walk into a fast-moving environment, figure out what needs to be done, and do it. If you need step-by-step direction or a ready-made SOP on day one, this role is not for you.\nThis is not a clock-in, clock-out role.\nIt is not basic bookkeeping.\nIt is not consolidating numbers someone else has already organized.\nWhat you’ll own\nFull ownership of the books across all US entities in QuickBooks Online and the India entity in Tally: entries, categorization, and accuracy\n\nReconciling the past 3 years of records: backtracking all invoices paid to date, identifying outstanding amounts, and flagging what is still owed, to whom, and by when\n\nTracking and managing all incoming and outgoing invoices across entities, including construction-side payments previously managed by the team\n\nAccounts payable end to end: knowing exactly which payments are due, to whom, and when\n\nIntercompany transactions and reconciliation between the US and India entities\n\nConsolidation of books of accounts between holding companies and subsidiaries\n\nSupporting the team in maintaining a forward-looking cash flow tracker so the team always knows what payments are coming and can communicate proactively with consultants and vendors if timelines shift\n\nReconciling bank transactions, payment confirmations, and internal records regularly and accurately, with no missed entries and no approximations\n\nIndia payroll bookkeeping and coordination on statutory compliance (PF, ESI, TDS, PT, MCA filings) end to end, including coordination with any vendors on ground.\n\nSupporting documentation for construction draw applications and other external financial processes\n\nFlagging gaps, inconsistencies, and risks before they become problems\n\nWhat we’re looking for\n4 to 8 years of full-cycle accounting experience across both India and US books. That means not just bookkeeping and not just compliance, but both.\n\nDeep proficiency in QuickBooks Online (non-negotiable)\n\nStrong working knowledge of Tally\n\nHands-on experience handling India statutory payroll compliance (PF, ESI, TDS, PT) yourself, not just overseeing a CA or vendor who does it\n\nExperience in managing accounts and consolidation for multiple entities simultaneously\n\nObsessive attention to detail: you don’t miss large entries, and you don’t miss small ones either\n\nStrong written and verbal English. You will coordinate regularly with US-based founders and consultants.\n\nStrong Excel or Google Sheets skills, and high comfort using AI tools to automate and streamline workflows\n\nExperience with US real estate or construction accounting, including draw applications\n\nWhat success looks like\nAt 30 days:\nYou have gone through QuickBooks across all active US entities and the India entity’s books, and you know exactly what is in there and what is not\n\nYou have a clear, accurate picture of every outstanding invoice: who is owed, how much, and since when\n\nYou know the India entity’s compliance calendar and its current status\n\nYou have flagged anything broken, missing, or at risk\n\nYou have started building a cash flow tracker the team can actually use to plan and communicate future payments\n\nThe team now relies on your support in obtaining and updating the numbers in the cash flow tracker.\n\nAt 90 days:\nThe 3-year reconciliation is complete, or on a clear path to completion with known gaps documented\n\nBooks across both countries are current, and month-end is running on your own rhythm\n\nThe team no longer has to chase you. You are the one coming to them.\n\nWho this role is for\nYou find a messy set of books and feel the urge to fix it, not avoid it.\n\nYou are highly proactive, communicate smartly and very proactively, own your mistakes, and don’t let things fall through the cracks.\n\nYou catch things others miss.\n\nYou look at a situation and figure out what to do next\n\nYou don't just flag a problem and pass it on.
