SanDisk is an American flash memory company that was founded in 1988, acquired by Western Digital in 2016, and separated again as an independent listed company in early 2025. It designs and manufactures NAND flash memory through its long-running joint venture with Kioxia in Japan, and sells that memory as enterprise and client solid state drives, memory cards, USB drives and portable storage under the SanDisk and WD_BLACK brands. Headquartered in Milpitas and listed on Nasdaq, its results swing sharply with the memory pricing cycle, which turned strongly in its favour during the storage shortage of the mid 2020s.

Sandisk understands how people and businesses consume data and we relentlessly innovate to deliver solutions that enable today’s needs and tomorrow’s next big ideas. With a rich history of groundbreaking innovations in Flash and advanced memory technologies, our solutions have become the beating heart of the digital world we’re living in and that we have the power to shape.

Sandisk meets people and businesses at the intersection of their aspirations and the moment, enabling them to keep moving and pushing possibility forward. We do this through the balance of our powerhouse manufacturing capabilities and our industry-leading portfolio of products that are recognized globally for innovation, performance and quality.

Sandisk has two facilities recognized by the World Economic Forum as part of the Global Lighthouse Network for advanced 4IR innovations. These facilities were also recognized as Sustainability Lighthouses for breakthroughs in efficient operations. With our global reach, we ensure the global supply chain has access to the Flash memory it needs to keep our world moving forward.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced technology expert to join a growing team developing Sandisk's next generation of advanced memory products. • Develop and enhance characterization methodologies and wafer-level test techniques for emerging memory technologies.
  • Partner with design, process, and product teams to develop characterization strategies and drive device performance, reliability, and yield improvements.
  • Collaborate with test development teams to bring up and validate test programs and new characterization vehicles.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical challenges and generate insights that accelerate device optimization and technology development.
  • Communicate effectively across teams to align priorities and ensure timely execution.

Required:

  • PhD or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field, with strong hands-on experience in device testing and characterization.
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor device physics, reliability, and failure mechanisms.
  • Experience in the electrical characterization of non-volatile memory technologies such as SOM, PCRAM, MRAM, or ReRAM.
  • Ability to translate complex technical findings into clear, actionable reports for cross-functional audiences.
  • Self-driven, able to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced development environment.

Preferred:

  • Track record of adopting AI tools to streamline technical work.
  • Strong scripting and test development skills, with proficiency in Python and data analysis platforms such as JMP or similar.
  • Hands-on knowledge of lab test equipment, automated probers, and ATE memory testers.
