If yes, this may be the right opportunity for you.\nThe Senior Power Unit Engineer position is located at Sandvik's Turku site, the main product development and manufacturing center for our Load and Haul equipment. You will work with power units and their auxiliary systems for mobile machines operating in demanding underground mining environments. The role is full-time and permanent.\nAbout the job\nAs a Senior Power Unit Engineer, you will join the Powertrain Technology team within the Product Offering organization and act as a key technical authority for power unit systems within our Load and Haul products. You will have overall technical responsibility for power unit systems, including internal combustion engines and associated auxiliary components. You will define technical solutions, ensure compliance with internal standards and external requirements, and co-develop engine variants with suppliers to meet the environmental and operational demands of underground mining. You will also help shape the long-term technology strategy, contribute to technology roadmaps and mentor other engineers through technical leadership and reviews.\nYour work includes the following\nOwn the power unit system definition, technical architecture and overall technical responsibility for power units, auxiliary systems and related components throughout the product lifecycle.\nDevelop power unit solutions together with suppliers, ensuring performance, emissions compliance, safety, efficiency and reliability in demanding underground operating conditions.\nLead validation, testing and complex problem-solving activities, using analysis and test results to drive corrective actions and continuous product improvements.\nCollaborate across engineering disciplines, suppliers and customers, including occasional travel to customer sites and field locations to gain firsthand insight into machine operation, support technical investigations, validate solutions and identify opportunities for continuous product improvement.\nDrive the future of power unit technology by evaluating emerging technologies, contributing to technology roadmaps, and mentoring other engineers through technical reviews and guidance.\nYour background\nSuitable degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Energy Technology or another relevant engineering discipline.\nExtensive experience in power unit, engine or powertrain engineering for mobile equipment, with a proven track record of developing system-level solutions.\nStrong system-level understanding of internal combustion engine applications and their integration into demanding machine environments.\nProven ability to lead technical discussions, collaborate with suppliers and solve complex engineering challenges.\nStrong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance technical, regulatory and business requirements.\nCollaborative mindset and willingness to support and mentor other engineers.\nFluent communication skills in both Finnish and English.\nWillingness to travel occasionally.\nBeneficial but not required\nExperience with underground mining machinery, off-road mobile equipment or other demanding industrial applications.\nKnowledge of engine applications, power unit subsystems, engine control systems, CAN communication, emissions legislation, functional safety or product compliance.\nExperience in technical leadership roles, simulation-based development, or data-driven engineering methods.\nSandvik is dedicated to ensuring the health and work ability of all employees.
