About the role
We build the systems SAP Account Executives rely on to quote, price, and close complex deals. We're now bringing AI into that workflow, not as a bolt-on chatbot, but as grounded, trustworthy capability wired into the engine that actually owns the rules. That means AI that calls real business logic and reports the real result, rather than guessing at it.
You'll be the senior technical owner for this work: designing the approach, building the hard parts yourself, and setting the bar for how AI, data, and observability come together in a production sales platform. It's a hands-on architect role, you'll spend as much time in code and data as you do on design.
The work splits roughly in two:
- Building AI capability into the sales workflow, assistants and services that give AEs predictive insight, in-flow automation, and decision support they can trust.
- Analytics & observability, turning messy operational reality (support tickets, system telemetry, usage data, performance traces) into the evidence that tells us what to build and whether it's working.
What you'll build
- Grounded AI for sales workflows. Design and ship AI-driven features that support Account Executives directly in their quoting workflow, automation, decision support, and guardrails grounded in the platform's own logic, so the system never claims an outcome it can't confirm. Getting this right (grounding, evaluation, honest failure modes) is the core technical challenge, not an afterthought.
- End-to-end AI integration. Architect scalable AI components that slot into existing enterprise systems through clean, API-based boundaries, experimentation through to enterprise-ready deployment.
- Analytics that drive decisions. Mine large operational datasets, support-ticket corpora, usage logs, deal data, to surface where the real pain and opportunity are. Much of what we build is justified by this analysis first; you'll be the one turning tens of thousands of noisy records into a defensible answer.
- Observability & telemetry. Build the monitoring, dashboards, and telemetry pipelines that tell us how our systems (AI and otherwise) actually behave in production, latency, correctness, usage, drift, and make that visible to the people who need it.
- Production-grade lifecycle. Own AI systems from prototype to enterprise deployment: MLOps, evaluation harnesses, monitoring, governance, and performance optimization. Ship things that hold up under real users, not just demos.
Your work will directly influence SAP's core sales processes and top-line growth.
What you bring
- Strong engineering fundamentals plus production AI/ML experience
- Deep Python and modern AI frameworks; generative AI, LLM orchestration, prompt engineering, RAG / grounded systems
- Grounding and evaluation: keeping AI honest against a source of truth, guardrails, honest failure modes
- API-based architecture and data engineering: clean integration boundaries into enterprise systems
- Data & analytics as a co-equal strength: strong SQL, log/telemetry analysis on large messy datasets
- Observability engineering: monitoring, dashboards, telemetry pipelines
- MLOps, CI/CD, and production monitoring of AI systems
- Cloud-native: SAP BTP preferred, or comparable (AWS / Azure / GCP)
