Ready to bring your best?\nSummary\nResponsible for implementing and sustaining the facility’s Health and Safety management programs, managing the health and safety activities for the plant to ensure regulatory compliance, and protecting human health and the environment.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities.\nProvide pro-active leadership and guidance for a strong safety culture in all areas.\nDevelop and maintain close working relationship with manufacturing personnel.\nDevelop and manage a facility safety strategy to include but not limited to:\nJob Hazard Assessments \nPlant Inspections\nAccident Investigations\nHazard control and Prevention Reports \nTracking and verification of corrective actions\nAuditing the Environmental, Health and Safety programs \nMaintain the accident records and files in support of the annual OSHA 300 log and any other OSHA requirement. Evaluate cases to decrease the accident rate and severity using safety assessments, industrial hygiene sampling and following Cal OSHA regulations and SDF Company Guidelines.\nManages employee illness and injuries. Manages workers compensation claims from the initial incident through claim finalization and closure. Works closely with HR and claim management representatives to ensure effective claim management. \nEffectively tracks and reports all employee illness and injury report statistics, matrices and report data. Provides management with monthly and annual occupational health and safety reports.\nResponsible for the Hazard Communication program including the MSDS database.\nBe the liaison between the site and 3rd party environmental and occupational safety regulatory compliance agencies.\nAssist and guide internal and external customers in Safety, Health and Environmental compliance, including recommendations, corrective action plans, special projects, new products, and complaints or concerns. \nConduct necessary assessments, inventories and inspections in support of environmental, health and safety regulations. \nSupport Process Safety Management Program activities. This includes the annual evaluation of the program, NH3 system inspections, training, system integrity and mechanical/functional control testing and evaluation. Effectively coordinate the local process safety management team in accordance with our PSM and RMPP program guidelines and requirements. \nSupervise the environmental compliance programs to ensure compliance local, state and federal guidelines as applicable to each program component and requirement. \nIn concert with Saputo Division Health and Safety Department, develop robust programs and procedures in compliance with OSHA and SDF for the following GISO’s: Emergency Response Plan, Personal Protective Equipment, Control of Hazardous Energy, Confined Spaces, and Respiratory Protection, and Hearing Conservation. Identify and select the best and appropriate levels of protective equipment for face, eyes, hand, ears, foot and body as applicable by hazard and level of exposure. \nDevelop a Safety Internal Audit Checklist to comply with OSHA standards and SDF guidelines. \nManage the Ergonomics Program, educate the employees and coordinate workstation assessments. \nEvaluate environmental problems to develop methods and equipment to maintain regulatory compliance. Stay current with emerging environmental control technology and trends (BACT).\nSupervise medical surveillance for chemicals, respiratory protection and hearing conservation programs. \nOversee the Health programs such as medical surveillance, physicals, wellness program, first aid supplies and equipment, Bloodborne Pathogens and employee First Aid/CPR training.\nChair the Safety Committee and coordinate all Safety Committee activities. \nProvide technical support to outside resources or contractors for compliance to SDF safety efforts. \nManage the Health and safety audit process and represent SDF with regulatory agencies. Maintain effective working relationships with governmental agencies.\nDevelop and facilitate training for new employees, periodic and annual health and safety training. Coordinate the EHS tailgate training program to educate employees on health and safety injury prevention practices and topics.\nSupport and be an ambassador of Saputo Values which include: Efficiency through simplicity; a family-oriented environment; ownership and commitment; have a hands-on approach; and passion. \nOther duties and responsibilities as required by management. \nQualifications. Bachelor’s degree in environmental or chemical engineering, safety management, industrial hygiene, industrial risk, management ora related field or equivalent experience. Working knowledge and understanding of OSHA Title 8 regulations is required.A minimum of 5 years of increasing experience in an industrial manufacturing setting, preferably food manufacturing. Must be computer literate. Must complete projects with minimum or no supervision and have good interpersonal skills and leadership characteristics.\nLanguage Skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, procedures, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, employees, and the general public.\nMathematical Skills. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.\nReasoning Ability. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.\nComputer Skills. Excellent computer skills, proficient with all MS Office applications, design software a plus.
