This position is responsible for drafting, reviewing, redlining, negotiating, and administering engineering, consulting, and construction contracts. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and decision-making skills, the ability to identify and mitigate contractual risk, and the ability to work effectively with executive leadership and clients. This role plays an important part in ensuring contractual documents align with the company’s risk profile, business objectives, and core values.\nKey Responsibilities\nDraft, review, and revise a variety of contract documents, including non-disclosure agreements, master service agreements, engineering agreements, joint venture agreements, construction contracts, and related legal documents.\nNegotiate contract terms and conditions in alignment with company policies, legal requirements, and risk management objectives.\nWork closely with executive management to support business goals and ensure contractual commitments align with organizational priorities.\nReview contractual and business risks and recommend practical solutions to reduce exposure.\nCommunicate professionally with clients and internal stakeholders while supporting strong business relationships.\nAssist with special projects and other assignments as needed.\nThis position allows for a hybrid work schedule with the expectation of 3 days in our downtown Chicago, IL office and 2 days working remotely from home.\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree required, preferably in business, insurance, engineering, law, or a related field.\nMinimum of 5 years of experience drafting, negotiating, analyzing, and interpreting contract documents.\nStrong ability to assess and manage contractual risk.\nExcellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.\nSound judgment and the ability to make administrative and procedural decisions.\nStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to take initiative.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and professionally.\nFlexibility and willingness to work on a broad range of contractual matters.\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.\nWillingness to travel occasionally, as needed.\nIf you are an experienced contract professional seeking an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic organization, we encourage you to apply!\nWe do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.\nTechnology & Innovation\nSargent & Lundy values the appropriate use of technology to improve how work gets done and deliver high-quality outcomes for our clients.
