We have a highly professional and experienced staff dedicated to the energy business.\nWe are seeking an in-house attorney to counsel our engineering and design teams on methods for mitigating engineering services and construction risks though contract and claim management.\nThe responsibilities for this Corporate Counsel position include:\nDraft, review, and negotiate professional services contracts, EPC contracts (design-build), teaming agreements, other business agreements\nEarly claim monitoring and management, including identification of potential risks and recommending strategies for mitigation\nNotify and cooperate with insurers to investigate, tender, and track claims and incidents\nManage outside counsel and litigation related to professional liability, personal injury, and contract disputes\nMonitor and review pleadings, discovery, trial preparations, and settlement negotiations\nWork directly with company stakeholders on the above legal activities\nAssist in the development and implementation of corporate policies and procedures\nAdvise on industry-specific regulations and laws\nThis position allows for a hybrid work schedule with a mix of work spent in our downtown Chicago office and working remotely from home.\nQualifications\nThis position requires:\nJuris Doctor (law) degree\nAt least 3 years of legal experience in the architect and engineering design or construction field.\nEngineering degree (preferred)\nFamiliarity with general liability and professional liability insurance coverages (e.g. errors and omissions insurance)\nConstruction or professional services contracting experience\nWe do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.\nTechnology & Innovation\nSargent & Lundy values the appropriate use of technology to improve how work gets done and deliver high-quality outcomes for our clients.
