Candidate can be located anywhere in the United States.\nSLC works on behalf of clients to support utility-scale solar, wind, battery energy storage, thermal power, and other power and infrastructure projects. We evaluate and optimize technical, commercial, environmental, social responsibility, and financial aspects of the projects for a variety of clients.\nThis position will require you to perform high quality design and consulting services as part of multidisciplined project teams for challenging domestic and international, power and industrial projects. These engineering services include but are not limited to earth retention systems, deep and shallow foundation design, dam stability analyses and inspections, in-situ instrumentation and monitoring programs, subsurface exploration, seismic stability and liquefaction analyses, ground improvement, groundwater supply wells, and field oversight of exploration and construction activities.\nTypical responsibilities may include:\nPrepare geotechnical reports and calculations for conformity with project specifications. \nPrepare specifications for subsurface investigations, deep foundations, ground improvement, earth retaining systems, monitoring wells, water production wells, and general earthwork.\nAdvise power project developers to support new utility-scale solar, wind, battery energy storage, thermal, and other projects;\nEvaluate new power and infrastructure projects independently to support financing.\nDevelop technical reports for applicable audiences - including owners, developers, governmental agencies and committees, and financiers\nConduct occasional on-site quality surveillance of subsurface exploration programs, pile installation and pile testing.\nOccasional domestic and/or international travel\nQualifications\nWe do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.\nEssential skills and experience:\nThis position requires a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a geotechnical focus. A Master’s degree with a strong background and coursework in geotechnical engineering discipline is a plus.\n3+ years of detailed geotechnical design, including soil remediation, deep foundations, driven, predrilled, and helical pile design\nExperience in working in design of power, transmission, or other heavy industry projects, including on-site quality surveillance of subsurface exploration programs, pile installation and pile testing.\nExperience in writing and providing support documentation for Geotechnical Engineering specifications or calculations.\nAbility to work in a team environment\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical evaluation report writing\nValued but not required skills and experience:\nProfessional Engineering (PE) license or the ability to earn one\nExperience specific to wind turbine generation and/or solar PV design\nExperience with unique subsurface conditions\nTechnical evaluation report writing\nAbility and willingness to travel, both domestic and international.\nMulti-discipline teamwork (i.e. design projects, co-ops)\nData analysis and visualization\nProject finance or business acumen\nConceptual project design\nConstruction project management and/or scheduling software knowledge\nExcellent verbal/written communication skills\nSolid interpersonal skills and ability to work with and guide others\nProject planning, leadership, and organizational skills\nTechnology & Innovation\nSargent & Lundy values the appropriate use of technology to improve how work gets done and deliver high-quality outcomes for our clients.
