Your architectural decisions will directly impact scalability, data integrity, and user experience—enabling faster product delivery, improved operational efficiency, and enhanced connectivity for healthcare professionals and IoT-enabled devices.\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities: \nDefine and document system architecture for web applications, APIs, and IoT integrations using Ruby on Rails and modern web technologies\nProvide guidance to development teams on best practices, coding standards, and architectural principles\nDesign frameworks for connecting IoT devices to enterprise systems, ensuring secure data transmission and real-time analytics\nEnsure robust implementation of front-end (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) and back-end (Ruby on Rails, SQL) components\nOptimize application performance, database queries, and infrastructure for high availability and low latency\nImplement security protocols, encryption standards, and compliance measures (HIPAA-adjacent where applicable)\nWork closely with product managers, business analysts, and stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals\nEvaluate new tools and frameworks for IoT, cloud, and web development; recommend adoption strategies\nMaintain architectural diagrams, technical specifications, and integration guidelines\nAdditional job duties as assigned\n\nSkills/Experience Required:\nEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field required\n7–10 years of experience in software architecture and development\nExpert-level proficiency in Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and SQL\nStrong understanding of IoT concepts, device connectivity, and data streaming\nProven experience designing scalable, secure, and high-performing web applications\nHands-on experience with API design, microservices, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)\nFamiliarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools (Jira, Confluence)\nExcellent communication skills\nStrategic thinking with hands-on technical depth\nStrong problem-solving and decision-making skills\nExperience with IoT protocols (MQTT, CoAP) and edge computing preferred\nExposure to data analytics, real-time dashboards, and event-driven architectures preferred\nCertifications in AWS Solutions Architect, IoT, or similar preferred\nAbility to independently manage all aspects of the job role including required goals and business practices in a remote environment\n\nSarnova is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
