This role will primarily support operations on the U.S. East Coast (Virginia) and the Europe, Middle East, Asia (EMEA) region, with a focus on the United Kingdom (UK).\nThis position provides a unique opportunity to partner with multiple operational teams responsible for testing and servicing autonomous surface vessels across geographically diverse and highly regulated environments. The EHS Specialist will support the development, implementation, and management of critical EHS programs and training to ensure compliance with U.S. and U.K. regulatory frameworks, while promoting a culture of learning and operational excellence.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nEnvironmental\nSupport environmental compliance programs, including but limited to:\n\nAir permits and emissions compliance\n\nHazardous and industrial waste management\n\nStormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and equivalent Australian stormwater requirements\n\nSpill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans and inspections\n\nHazardous materials / Dangerous Goods management\n\nCoordinate with local site teams and external consultants to ensure compliance with relevant environmental authorities\n\nAssist with environmental reporting, inspections, and recordkeeping across regions\nHealth and Safety\n\nSupport development and management of EHS programs including, but not limited to:\n\nMaritime Safety (including maritime operations in U.S. and U.K. waters)\n\nRespiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Ergonomics\n\nPowered Industrial Trucks, Hazard Communication\n\nCranes and Rigging, Electrical and Battery Safety\n\nLockout/Tagout (LOTO) and energy isolation\n\nEmergency Action Plans aligned with local regulatory requirements\n\nConduct safety meetings, presentations, trainings, committees, shift stand-ups, and GEMBA walk-throughs across multiple time zones and locations\n\nSupport the creation and standardization of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) across global operations\n\nLead hazard control implementation, including coordination with vendors and cross-regional project teams\n\nLead EHS event investigations and learning analyses; track and drive corrective actions globally\n\nRespond to employee health or safety emergencies and support activation of site-specific emergency procedures\n\nEvaluate work practices to identify hazards and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations\n\nSubmit, track, and manage EHS continuous improvement initiatives across regions\n\nAddress and document safety concerns both in the field and through formal reporting systems\n\nDeliver EHS training to employees at all levels, including region-specific regulatory training requirements\n\nSupport EHS team initiatives such as regulatory reporting, inspections, audits, emergency drills, and management system improvements\n\nMonitor and communicate updates on EHS regulations, standards, and industry best practices.\n\nDevelop and track individual and team objectives and key results (OKRs) aligned with global EHS goals.\n\nQualifications\nBachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineering, public health, or a related field;
