This role covers both the physical hardware side of electrical installation and the planning required to turn a wire connection list into a buildable installation strategy.\nElectrical installation in shipbuilding depends on foundations, wireways, and penetrations being planned and installed at the correct stage of construction, and on cable routing being translated from a connection list into a real physical path through the ship. The Manufacturing Engineer ensures this translation happens accurately and efficiently, minimizing rework and schedule risk.\nThis role works closely with design engineering, structural and outfitting planning, and waterfront production to ensure electrical installation work is sequenced correctly and executable by the trades.\nResponsibilities\nEquipment & Hardware Installation Planning\nDevelop work instructions for equipment foundation fabrication and installation, equipment mounting, and alignment.\n\nPlan wireway and cable tray routing and support, and define penetration methods through decks and bulkheads using Roxtec or equivalent transit systems.\n\nCoordinate installation sequencing with structural and outfitting trades to avoid interferences.\n\nCable Routing & Hook-Up Planning\nTranslate wire connection lists (source-to-destination data) into a physical cable routing and installation strategy.\n\nSequence cable pulls logically by run, zone, or system to minimize rework and maximize efficiency.\n\nDevelop cable pulling and termination work packages specifying route, order, and termination method.\n\nTechnical & Compliance Requirements\nAccount for cable separation, bend radius, fill, and EMI/segregation requirements in routing plans.\n\nFlag connection list errors or routing conflicts to design engineering before they surface during installation.\n\nEnsure work instructions reflect ABS, USCG, and NAVSEA requirements, material traceability, and test requirements (continuity, megger, hi-pot).\n\nProduction Support & Continuous Improvement\nSupport first-article pulls and terminations, walking the work with electricians and leads.\n\nRefine routing plans and standard work based on floor feedback.\n\nMaintain documentation of installation and routing standards across the program.\n\nWhat Success Looks Like\nCable routes and equipment installations match the connection list and design intent without rework.\n\nPenetrations and wireways are installed and ready before cable pulling begins.\n\nElectricians can execute pull and termination packages without returning to design for clarification.\n\nRouting conflicts and connection list errors are caught before installation, not during it.\n\nProduction and design trust the electrical plan as an accurate, buildable reference.\n\nQualifications\nRequired\nHands-on experience in marine electrical trades (shipboard electrician, cable installer, electrical technician) or equivalent planning experience built on that trade background.\n\nUnderstanding of equipment foundation and installation practices, wireway/cable tray systems, and penetration/transit methods such as Roxtec.\n\nAbility to read wiring diagrams, connection/cable lists, and one-line diagrams, and translate a source-to-destination connection into a physical route.\n\nWorking knowledge of how ships are built, including unit/block construction and zone outfitting.\n\nStrong written communication skills to produce clear, unambiguous work instructions.\n\nPreferred\nExperience in new construction shipbuilding; repair/overhaul experience also considered.\n\nFamiliarity with cable pulling and termination methods (crimp, solder, mechanical lug).\n\nExperience with PLM/ERP systems and connection-list/database management tools.\n\nFamiliarity with ABS, USCG, or NAVSEA requirements as they apply to electrical installation.\n\nTechnical/trade school, associate's, or bachelor's degree in a relevant field.\n\nPhysical Demands\nProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer\n\nOccasional standing and walking within the office\n\nManual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment\n\nVisual acuity to read screens, documents, and reports\n\nOccasional reaching, bending, or stooping to access file drawers, cabinets, or office supplies\n\nLifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, packages)\n\nBenefits\nMedical Insurance: Comprehensive health insurance plans covering a range of services\nSaronic pays 100% of the premium for employees and 80% for dependents\nDental and Vision Insurance: Coverage for routine dental check-ups, orthodontics, and vision care\nSaronic pays 100% of the premium under the basic plan for employees and 80% for dependents\nTime Off: Generous PTO and Holidays\nParental Leave: Paid maternity and paternity leave to support new parents\nCompetitive Salary: Industry-standard salaries with opportunities for performance-based bonuses\nRetirement Plan: 401(k) plan with company match\nStock Options: Equity options to give employees a stake in the company’s success\nLife and Disability Insurance: Basic life insurance and short- and long-term disability coverage\nPet Insurance: Discounted pet insurance options including 24/7 Telehealth helpline\nAdditional Perks: Free lunch benefit and unlimited free drinks and snacks in the office\nSaronic CCPA Notice for Candidates and California Employees\nIf this role is based in the United States, it requires access to export-controlled information or items that require “U.S. Person” status.
