This is primarily a litigation and regulatory role, with meaningful responsibility for government-facing engagement and executive advisory work. You will partner closely with our Head of Regulatory & Litigation, our General Counsel, and our government affairs and policy teams to manage high-stakes matters and shape the legal environment in which Saronic operates.\nThis is not a traditional in-house role. It requires sharp legal judgment, the ability to build case strategy from the ground up, fluency with how federal decision-makers operate, and the discipline to manage litigation, regulatory, and facility-related matters in parallel.\nResponsibilities\nLitigation Strategy\nDevelop and drive strategy on the company’s most consequential litigation, including affirmative challenges and constitutional and administrative law matters, from initial case assessment through dispositive motions and appeal.\n\nDraft and oversee key filings, including complaints, preliminary injunction motions and oppositions, and dispositive and discovery motions, while managing outside counsel to a high standard of work product.\n\nLead internal fact development, including employee interviews, declarations, and witness preparation.\n\nCoordinate amicus and coalition strategy and align litigation positions with the company’s external messaging.\n\nRegulatory and Government Engagement\nPartner with the Head of Regulatory & Litigation on national and international regulatory matters affecting Saronic, including military acquisition regulation, export controls, and cross-cutting national security regulatory issues.\n\nEngage with agencies and develop comments, filings, and advocacy strategies on regulations material to the company.\n\nAdvise senior leadership on risks and opportunities arising from legislation, executive orders, and regulation, and support the government affairs team on legal and policy engagement with the executive branch and Congress.\n\nPrepare talking points, white papers, and briefing materials for meetings with government officials and other external stakeholders.\n\nCross-Functional Counsel\nAdvise business leaders on the intersection of law, policy, and strategy across product, government affairs, and corporate functions.\n\nHelp build the legal infrastructure of a fast-scaling defense technology company.\n\nQualifications\n5+ years of legal experience involving litigation and regulatory matters (government, in-house, or top-tier law firm).\n\nJuris Doctor and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.\n\nA track record of building and executing strategy in high-stakes federal litigation, including constitutional, administrative, or complex commercial matters.\n\nExperience advising senior executives or government officials on legal, regulatory, and policy risk.\n\nDemonstrated interest in or experience with national security, defense, or law enforcement matters.\n\nExcellent written and oral advocacy; ability to operate with senior policymakers and senior executives with equal credibility.\n\nSound judgment, low ego, high ownership, and the temperament to thrive in a fast-moving, mission-driven company.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nPrior executive branch, congressional, military, or other national security experience.\n\nExperience with environmental, permitting, or land-use matters for large-scale industrial or infrastructure facilities.\n\nExperience with defense acquisition, export controls, or CFIUS.\n\nFamiliarity with autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, dual-use technology, or defense innovation.\n\nCurrent or prior U.S. security clearance (Secret or higher); TS/SCI eligibility strongly preferred.\n\nPhysical Demands\nProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer\n\nOccasional standing and walking within the office\n\nManual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment\n\nVisual acuity to read screens, documents, and reports\n\nOccasional reaching, bending, or stooping to access file drawers, cabinets, or office supplies\n\nLifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, packages)\n\nBenefits\nMedical Insurance: Comprehensive health insurance plans covering a range of services\nSaronic pays 100% of the premium for employees and 80% for dependents\nDental and Vision Insurance: Coverage for routine dental check-ups, orthodontics, and vision care\nSaronic pays 100% of the premium under the basic plan for employees and 80% for dependents\nTime Off: Generous PTO and Holidays\nParental Leave: Paid maternity and paternity leave to support new parents\nCompetitive Salary: Industry-standard salaries with opportunities for performance-based bonuses\nRetirement Plan: 401(k) plan with company match\nStock Options: Equity options to give employees a stake in the company’s success\nLife and Disability Insurance: Basic life insurance and short- and long-term disability coverage\nPet Insurance: Discounted pet insurance options including 24/7 Telehealth helpline\nAdditional Perks: Free lunch benefit and unlimited free drinks and snacks in the office\nSaronic CCPA Notice for Candidates and California Employees\nIf this role is based in the United States, it requires access to export-controlled information or items that require “U.S. Person” status.
