May provide direction and leadership, coordinate workloads, schedule and prioritize activities for other technical positions, subgroups and/or project team. Partners with vendors to deploy new technology or support existing technology.\nTYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES\n(Not all inclusive or applicable to all assignments)\nDesigns, coordinates the implementation and provides advanced support for technical environment associated with the corporate IT infrastructure to meet functionality requirements and ensures cost effectiveness.\n\nDesigns, implements and supports appropriate infrastructure i.e. tools, standards, procedures, documentation etc. to manage the technical environment ensuring service levels, auditability, survivability and security requirements are met.\n\nPlans, coordinates and provides direction for required upgrades to hardware, operating system and layered software products.\n\nEvaluates, recommends and directs the implementation of new software and hardware using SaskTel project management disciplines.\n\nManages the full life cycle of various products using a disciplined approach.\n\nPerforms complex software or hardware installations.\n\nProblem solves software/hardware failures while under pressure from impacted clients or customers.\n\nPerforms Control Office functions and responsibilities for the creation, monitoring, and resolution of hardware and software troubles ensuring Service Level Agreements, Defined Problems Management, and Change Management Control procedures are upheld.\n\nDatabase Administration - Plans, designs, automates, implements, and supports the physical structures for databases.\n\nNetwork - Plans, designs, automates, implements, and/or provides advanced support and training for SaskTel internal and external customers' route, switch, security, wireless, hardware, and software systems.\n\nDesktop - Plans, designs, automates, implements and/or provides advanced support for the hardware, operating systems and products that make up the SaskTel and/or customer standard desktop..\n\nServer - Plans, designs, automates, implements and/or provides advanced support for the hardware, operating systems and products that make up the SaskTel and/or customer standard server environment.\n\nSecurity - Plans, designs, automates, implements and/or provides advanced security tools, standards, and support for hardware, network, operating systems, applications, products, and services that make up the SaskTel and/or customer professional computing environment.\n\nDevelopment Tools - Plans, designs, implements and/or provides advanced support for the products used in the development of applications..\n\nApplication - Plans, designs, implements and/or supports the physical and logical structures for SaskTel and/or customer applications.\n\nSystems Integration - Plans, designs, implements, and provides advanced support for the hardware, network, operating systems, applications, products, and services that make up the SaskTel and/or customer professional computing environment.\n\nData Centres -Consults with Tier III resources and vendors for timely resolution of hardware and software problems as required. Performs continuous monitoring and testing on related systems and elements to ensure security, reliability, and integrity of computer environments. Identifies security vulnerabilities, analyzes errors in system configurations, and applies recommended resolutions. Conducts selected tests of information security measures. Ensures client awareness of SaskTel's policies and procedures related to the data centre environment.\nUnified Communications - Plans, designs, automates, implements, and/or provides advanced support and training for internal and external customers' collaboration hardware and software systems.\nQUALIFICATIONS\nMust satisfy one of the following educational requirements in combination with the specified experience levels which are normally gained through current and continuous experience in developing and/or supporting application software in a professional development environment or providing technical services on a full-time basis in a professional IT environment.a) University degree in Computer Science or Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Information Engineering or Electrical Engineering specializing in electronics or communications with 2 years experience. OR\nb) Technical Institute diploma in Data Processing or Computer Technology or Electronic Engineering Technology with 3 years experience. OR\nc) University degree in one of the following disciplines with a minor in Computer Science: Administration, Commerce, Science/Engineering or Mathematics, or SaskTel sponsored retraining program with 3 years experience. OR\nd) Certified Professional Designation (e.g. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Information Systems Professional (ISP) or Cisco Certification (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE), etc. with 4 years experience.
