Reporting to the Technical Services Unit Supervisor, the incumbent will apply knowledge and technical expertise of wireless voice and data communications systems, principles and processes in the effective delivery of public safety telecommunications support services. The position is headquartered in Regina.\n Provide technical support and maintenance for the Provincial Public Safety Telecommunications Network (PPSTN), including mobile two-way radio communications systems, dispatch consoles, and related communications infrastructure.\n\nInstall, configure, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a wide range of public safety electronic equipment and communications technologies.\n\nSupport specialized systems used in emergency response and wildfire management, including automated weather stations, smoke detection cameras, satellite communications equipment, and vehicle-mounted communications and warning systems.\n\nDiagnose technical issues, assess risks and impacts, and implement effective solutions to minimize service disruptions.\n\nPlan, prioritize, and manage multiple projects, service requests, and operational activities while adapting to changing priorities and responding to urgent issues.\n\nConduct preventative maintenance, equipment upgrades, testing, inspections, and quality assurance reviews to ensure reliable system performance.\n\nTravel throughout Saskatchewan, including remote locations, to install, service, and support communications infrastructure and equipment.\n\nProvide technical advice, support, and training to emergency responders, public safety partners, and other stakeholders.\n\nPrepare and maintain accurate technical records, service documentation, inventory information, and equipment configuration records.\n\nWork independently and collaboratively within a team environment to achieve operational goals and service standards.\n\nDevelop and present technical solutions and training to both technical and non-technical audiences.\n\nBuild and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, government agencies, public safety organizations, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.\n\nParticipate in a 24/7 on-call rotation and provide support during emergencies, major incidents, and critical system outages.\n\nContribute to continuous improvement initiatives through research, evaluation, and implementation of emerging technologies and best practices.\n\n Job required for this position would be obtained through a two-year Electronic Engineering or Computer Science Diploma, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.\n\nTravel to remote locations via helicopter and ATV is required.\n\nRequired to physically perform tasks such as lifting, carrying or moving supplies and equipment, and work on scaffolds, roofs, ladders, and towers up to 30m.\n\nThere is significant in-province travel associated with this position.\n\nMust hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license.\n\nMust be able to meet standards for Enhanced Reliability Security clearance.\n\nThis clearance requires Canadian Permanent Resident or Citizenship status.\n\nTechnical Knowledge and Skills\nElectronics theory and component-level troubleshooting of analog and digital electronic equipment.\nRF communications systems, RF propagation, antenna systems, encryption technologies, VoIP/RoIP, and public safety communications networks.\nPublic safety technologies including two-way radios, dispatch consoles, satellite communications, thermal imaging systems, environmental monitoring equipment, drones, and HAZMAT detection devices.\nCommunication tower infrastructure, grounding and lightning protection systems, tower safety standards, and preventative maintenance practices.\nAC/DC electrical systems, battery technologies, UPS systems, generators, and solar power systems.\nSoftware, firmware, and configuration management for communications and electronic systems.\nProject planning, quality assurance, asset management, and technical documentation practices.\nStrong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.\nProficiency using electronic test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF analyzers, signal generators, and power meters.\nAbility to fabricate, modify, and customize electronic and mechanical components using hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and metalworking tools.\nAbility to install, configure, program, and maintain communications equipment and supporting infrastructure.\nStrong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective
