Ferry Operator

The Opportunity:

The Ministry of Highways, Southern Operations, is seeking a less-than-full-time Seasonal Ferry Operator for the Riverhurst Ferry Crossing.

• Performs safe operating practices, water rescue procedures during ferry operations in compliance with The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and workplace procedures.
• Performs routine equipment maintenance, including basic mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, fuel and lubrication systems.
• Applies standard safety precautions and practices according to established protocols, guidelines and legislation.
• Identifies and diagnoses equipment failures; performs minor repairs and coordinates major repairs with the Ministry.
• Communicates issues, policies and procedures clearly to clients, team members and stakeholders.
• Prepares work schedules, instructs, guides, coaches and motivates team members to enhance performance and skill development.
• Organizes, records and presents verbal and written information in a clear, concise, complete, accurate and timely manner.
