The role ensures the safe, reliable, and legally compliant operation of the fleet through adherence to maintenance standards, transport legislation, fleet management processes, and safety requirements. The incumbent contributes to fleet availability, operational reliability, asset integrity, and continuous improvement while maintaining compliance with company procedures, legal requirements, and Enablon reporting standards.\nKey Accountabilities\nApply and maintain safety standards in the working environment, with specific focus on Dangerous Goods vehicles and transport operations.\nParticipate in daily toolbox talks, safety meetings, and work planning discussions.\nCarry out work according to approved maintenance plans and schedules.\nProvide feedback to supervisors on work progress, identified defects, and maintenance requirements.\nSupport preventative and corrective maintenance activities on vehicles, trailers, tankers, and associated fleet equipment.\nConduct routine vehicle, trailer, and equipment inspections to identify defects and support fleet reliability.\nIdentify faults and report abnormalities to ensure safe and reliable fleet operations.\nParticipate in root cause analyses and provide input relating to equipment failures and recurring defects.\nEnsure maintenance activities comply with company procedures, transport regulations, and safety requirements.\nMaintain good housekeeping standards in workshops, depots, maintenance facilities, and work areas.\nAssist in ensuring maintenance records, inspection findings, and work feedback are accurately captured.\nConduct Enablon inspections and report safety observations, incidents, hazards, and near misses.\nAttend training courses and development programmes in accordance with the training matrix.\nIdentify personal training and development needs and incorporate them into PDP discussions with the supervisor in support of career progression.\nSupport fleet availability and operational reliability by completing assigned tasks within agreed deadlines.\nParticipate in vehicle safety inspections, compliance audits, and fleet improvement initiatives.\nSupport the management of critical spares, tools, and maintenance materials within the work area.\nAttend and participate in PDAs, RCAs, and continuous improvement activities to improve fleet safety, compliance, and reliability.\nIdentify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within the own area of responsibility.\nFormal Education\nTo be considered for this discipline you need :\n a completed National Senior Certificate \n• Technical Mathematics or Mathematics SG/HG\n• English/Business English SG/HG\n• Physical Science SG/HG\nOR\nA full N3 certificate with Mathematics, Engineering Science, Business English \nAND\nNQFL 3 Mechanical occupational qualification(Must)\nDriving requirements\nValid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).\nDangerous Goods Driver Certification\nExperience Required\n0-2 years experience required\nRequired Personal and Professional Skills\nBC_Communicates Effectively\nBC_Manages Complexity\nTC_Analyse Alternatives and Recommend Solutions\nTC_Troubleshoots Technical Issues\nTC_Equipment Utilisation\nBC_Decision Quality\nBC_Action Oriented\nTC_Planning and Organisation\nBC_Ensures Accountability\nTC_Engineering Implementation\nSasol is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
