The will execute metallurgical research and development projects aimed at alleviating long-term and/or repetitive failures.\nKey Accountabilities\nConduct failure analyses, material recommendations, corrosion studies and mitigation, damage assessments, materials testing, RCA inputs, heat treatment and remaining life studies\nUpdate and maintain metallurgical and corrosion flow diagrams\nProvide adhoc metallurgical expert support for projects and operations\nInterface with other engineering disciplines, Inspection, Group Technology and external consultants, contractors and providers to maintain best practices\nAssist in the selection of external service providers by measuring their technical competence\nAssist with scorecard objectives for Metallurgical Engineering\nParticipate and conform to safety initiatives, systems and procedures\nConform to quality management system of metallurgical department and laboratory\nInterpret and translate business requirements into a Metallurgical Engineering strategy\nDrive proactive plant engineering and technical support\nTake accountability for the metallurgical and technology and technology selection in area of responsibility\nParticipate in interfaces and structures to align and integrate metallurgical engineering into the wider technical and operational fraternity\nEnsure sound problem definition and disciplined governance of technical delivery on long term metallurgical and welding development projects\nEnsure governance of practices for the disciplines including monitoring and audits\nEstablish specialised metallurgical capabilities and networks to enable optimum technical solutions\nEnsure equipment longevity by monitoring critical operating and design parameters linked to metallurgical damage mechanisms and flag deviations/concerns\nInterpret codes and standards and advise/signoff on contingencies for deviation Define discipline specific standards and best practices\nEnsure specific quality assurance\nEstablish deviation control in all metallurgical engineering activities\nAdhere to policies and standards during project implementation Review policies, specifications and standards on a regular basis\nManage risks by making sure that all risks are identified, analysed and mitigated to acceptable levels\nFormal Education\nUniversity Bachelors Degree\nWorking Experience\nExperience: 3+ relevant years\nCertification & Professional Membership\nECSA Registered Professional Engineer (Wish)\nRequired Personal and Professional Skills\nBC_Optimizes Work Processes\nTC_Action Planning\nBC_Manages Complexity\nTC_Analyse Alternatives and Recommend Solutions\nBC_Plans and Aligns\nTC_Assessment\nBC_Decision Quality\nTC_Planning and Organisation\nTC_Compliance Management\nBC_Ensures Accountability\nSasol is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
