To support this journey we are hiring a senior database administrator to take responsibility for the current database estate, maintain performance, security and availability, and lead the migration from on-premises data centres to a public cloud environment.\n\nWho are you?\n\nSkills & Competences:\n\nConscientiousness\n\nMotivation and positive mindset\n\nAbility to work independently\n\nQuick learning and strong organizational skills\n\nExcellent verbal and written communication\n\nCustomer-centric approach\n\nTeamwork\n\nWillingness to ask difficult questions\n\nProfessionalism\n\nTransparency and solution orientation\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\nMinimum seven years of hands-on experience administering databases in production environments where availability and reliability are critical, with deep expertise in mainstream commercial relational database systems.\n\nProven experience designing and operating high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions such as synchronous replication and failover clustering.\n\nStrong proficiency in SQL, including query tuning and execution-plan analysis.\n\nPractical experience deploying and managing database workloads in a public cloud environment, including managed database offerings and cloud-hosted virtual machines.\n\nExperience migrating databases from on-premises infrastructure to cloud platforms is highly desirable.\n\nFamiliarity with open-source relational databases is an advantage.\n\nAbility to automate repetitive tasks using scripting or general-purpose programming languages; experience with infrastructure-as-code or CI/CD for database changes is a plus.\n\nTrack record of leading database projects such as major version upgrades, consolidation initiatives or security-hardening efforts.\n\nBachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience; relevant cloud database or IT service-management certifications are beneficial.\n\nFluent written and spoken English, plus fluency in either French or Dutch.\n\nWhat will you do?\n\nDeploy, configure, upgrade, administer, monitor and maintain the organisation's relational databases both on-site and in the cloud.\n\nDefine, enforce and document configuration, security and data-integrity standards for databases and related objects; keep operational procedures and technical documentation current.\n\nDesign, implement and operate backup, restore and high-availability arrangements, and coordinate regular disaster-recovery exercises.\n\nAssess, plan and execute migration of database workloads to a public cloud platform using managed database services, managed instances or database servers on cloud virtual machines, collaborating with cloud engineers.\n\nEnforce security best practices including least-privilege access, encryption of data at rest and in transit, auditing and patch management.\n\nAct as a primary responder and escalation point for database incidents and service requests, aiming to minimise downtime and service impact.\n\nCarry out root-cause investigations for database issues and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence.\n\nReview and advise on database schemas and design changes with development teams to ensure scalability, maintainability and security.\n\nContinuously monitor performance and resource usage, perform query and index optimisation, and forecast capacity and cost implications.\n\nTechnologies (mandatory)\n\nAzure Cloud Platform\n\nSQL\n\nSecurity\n\nSQL Server\n\nPostgresql\n\n Company description\n Satellit is specialized in business transformation, digital transformation and Microsoft technologies.\n\nWe've intentionally designed an organization that values people as much as great solutions.
