Satlantis is a Basque space company founded in 2014 and specialised in very high resolution Earth observation cameras. Its compact optical payloads fly on small satellites and detect methane emissions and urban change. The company works with the European Space Agency, NASA partners and energy companies.

At SATLANTIS, we design advanced optical and space technologies with one purpose: solving global challenges from above. From our headquarters in Leioa (Bizkaia, Spain), we develop and operate satellite systems that deliver reliable Earth observation and mission-critical data.

We are now offering an opportunity to join our Satellite Operations team as a Satellite Operations & Systems Engineer, where you will combine hands-on technical work with operational responsibilities, supporting the monitoring, control, and optimization of our satellites in orbit. This role is perfect for technically skilled professionals who want to grow in space systems and operations, working closely with the Operations Lead.

What’s in it for you

  • Hands-on technical experience: Contribute directly to satellite design, subsystem analysis, and in-orbit operations.
  • Cross-disciplinary exposure: Collaborate with engineers, partners, and stakeholders across systems, launch, platform, and ground segments.
  • Growth and learning: Develop expertise in satellite systems engineering and operations while supporting the Operations Lead.
  • Flexible working hours: Organize your schedule in a culture of autonomy and trust.
  • Private health insurance: Access comprehensive medical coverage for you and your wellbeing.
  • Dynamic and collaborative environment: Join a young, multidisciplinary team driven by innovation, precision, and problem-solving.

Your mission

As a Satellite Operations & Systems Engineer, you will support both the engineering and operational aspects of satellite missions:

As part of the Operations Team, you will:

  • Participate in the satellite operations during LEOP, commissioning, nominal mission, and end-of-life activities.
  • Contribute to tests in-orbit and anomaly investigations in collaboration with the satellite operations teams.
  • Support the preparation and validation of operational products such as Mission Control Software and test bench activities.
  • Process and analyze telemetry data, maintaining supporting tools and infrastructure.
  • Contribute to the training and operational readiness of the operations team.

As a Space Systems Engineer, you will:

  • Participate in the development of space missions, from early satellite/mission concepts, requirements, design, AIT, and launch.
  • Execute assessments and simulations of system performance and budgets (mass, power, pointing, communication, orbital drift, etc.).
  • Coordination of engineering teams for system and subsystem development projects
  • Contribute to proposals for new missions and projects.

What will set you up for success

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate in Aerospace Engineering or equivalent; qualifications in Mechanical, Electrical, Telecommunications, or Software Engineering are a plus.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in spacecraft systems or operations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, proactive attitude, and ability to work independently.
  • Team spirit, versatility, and creativity.
  • Fluency in English; negotiation-level Spanish is a plus.
  • Experience in satellite operations or Earth observation missions is highly valued.

Ready to take your next step in the space industry?

If you want to support satellite operations, gain hands-on technical experience, and contribute to real missions from Earth to orbit, apply now and join SATLANTIS on our journey to shape the future of space systems.
