May provide some technical guidance for design personnel.\nEDUCATION\nCurrently enrolled at an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.\nQUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE\nInternship classification normally requires completion of at least two years of undergraduate studies from an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Civil/Structural Engineering. Must have working knowledge of various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment. Previous internship experience is preferred, but not required. Must possess the eligibility to work and remain in the U.S. without sponsorship.\nTYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\n Prepares simple design and construction drawings from sketches or verbal instructions utilizing manual or computer-assisted drafting/design techniques.\n Prepares sketches and performs calculations for a specific segment of a project.\n Performs related fundamental design support tasks such as updating computer lists, making simple calculations, proofreading reports, etc.\n May utilize information from vendor prints, catalogs, technical manuals, etc.\n Supports field assignments as required.\nLANGUAGE SKILLS\nAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before clients or employees of the organization.\nMATHEMATICAL SKILLS\nAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS\nOccasionally may conduct or participate in a field trip to an operating plant or construction site. This requires normal hearing, the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance, clear close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT\nNormal work environment will be a business office with moderate noise. Occasionally may visit or be temporarily assigned to work in an operating plant or at a construction site.
