We offer a competitive compensation package, flexible and hybrid work schedules, and a comprehensive benefits program to attract and retain the best professionals in the field.\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES\nMay provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers or specialists.\nEDUCATION\nNormally requires at least a four-year degree in Chemical Engineering and or Pulp and Paper Engineering\nQUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE\nRequires a minimum of 10-20 years’ experience in Process/Design Engineering or related functional area (or equivalent working knowledge/experience). This includes considerable experience in utilizing various computer software packages and automated engineering and design tools. Some experience working in a Paper Mill environment is preferred. Significant experience as a lead process engineer on capital projects is required. Registration as a licensed professional engineer is highly preferred (or be willing to obtain registration).\nDesign engineering experience with the following:\nMaterial Handling - chipping, feeders, screening, washing, conveying, storage, stack/reclaim.\nDirect paper machine design experience, including specifications and calculations, is strongly preferred\nRecycled Fibers - material handling, screening, cleaning, rejects handling, agglomeration, dispersion, flotation, chemical systems, water systems.\nPulping & Bleaching - cooking, mechanical, washing, screening, blow heat & NCG, causticizing, bleaching, safety.\nPapermaking - stock prep, paper machines, additives, finishing, roll handling for grades (liner, medium, coated board, printing/writing, recycled, pulp machines).\nPower & Recovery - recovery boiler, power boiler, turbines, feedwater systems, cooling towers, evaporators, concentrators, environmental.\nSpecific Preferences:\nWinGEMS process modeling\nTAPPI paper machine drive studies\nHeadbox replacement project experience\nTYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nMeets with clients’ technical staff to develop acceptable processes and control features.\nConducts field trips to existing plants to gather operating data and equipment information.\nPrepares equipment specifications. \nCommunicates process design to client and other design disciplines.\nParticipates in process safety reviews.\nPrepares operators instruction manuals.\nParticipates in preparation of contract proposals. \nLANGUAGE SKILLS\nAbility to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of clients, managers, designers and engineers.\nMATHEMATICAL SKILLS\nAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS\nOccasionally, will conduct or participate in a field trip to an operating plant or construction site. This requires normal hearing, the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance, clear close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT\nNormal work environment will be a business office with moderate noise. Occasionally, may visit or be temporarily assigned to work in an operating plant or at an construction site.
