Our approach to communications is built for today’s fast-paced media landscape, and favors speed over perfection, quality over quantity, and progress over paperwork.\nWith 60+ strategists coast-to-coast, and hubs in New York, San Francisco, Boston, Southern California and Chicago, SBS partners with venture-backed companies across AI, space, fintech, crypto, defense, cybersecurity, health and more.\nAccount Director Responsibilities\nAct as primary client lead, and day-to-day lead on account teams, setting the direction for the account and identifying PR priorities that directly map back to business objectives for our clients\n\nLead the development of informed and targeted media plans and campaigns - from ideation to execution\n\nDrive media results through outreach and creative story ideation\n\nProduce and/or edit written content\n\nLead and deliver client presentations - reporting, planning, etc.\n\nSupport agency development projects - new business pitches, company trainings, team events, recruiting, etc.\n\nCoach and mentor internal team members, conducting annual performance reviews\n\nManage SBS Fellowship program (internship)\n\nMakes recommendations on team staffing to ensure accounts have coverage and complementary skills\n\nWorking with Sr. Directors and VPs, support scope of work and budget conversations with clients\n\nAccount Director Skills & Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in PR, communications, journalism or similar area\n\nAt least 6 years in-house or agency PR experience\n\nDemonstrated ability to grow accounts and build client relationships\n\nDemonstrated ability to drive meaningful media results\n\nStrong presentation and verbal communication skills\n\nDetail oriented and focus on setting and managing to a high bar\n\nA creative mindset\n\nBrilliant writing skills (we’ll want to see samples)\n\nExperience or demonstrated readiness to supervise junior staff\n\nSelf-starter work ethic and player-coach management style\n\nWe understand that a job description may not capture all of the skills and experiences that can contribute to success in this role.
