As a Senior Technician, Chemistry - Formulation, you will join our ICB Air Care Team and contribute to the development of new and improved consumer products that meet the evolving needs and expectations of consumers worldwide.\nIn this role, you will play a key part in supporting research and development efforts through the formulation and testing of new and improved products across various technologies. You will work in a dynamic laboratory environment, collaborating with scientists and engineers to bring innovative ideas to life. You will apply your chemistry knowledge, hands-on formulation experience, and passion for quality to help develop innovative, high-performing consumer products.\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nAssist in the formulation and development of Air Care consumer products under the guidance of senior scientists and engineers.\nAssist in the development and documentation of new laboratory methods as needed to support ICB Air Care innovation.\nPrepare and test prototype formulations using laboratory equipment and techniques, following established procedures and safety guidelines.\nConduct claims-related testing and performance evaluations on formulated products to assess quality, efficacy, and shelf-life characteristics.\nRecord and analyze experimental data, documenting observations, results, and conclusions in electronic laboratory notebooks to ensure compliance with company standards.\nMaintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and inventory, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and proper functioning for efficient operation.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Manufacturing, quality control, and regulatory affairs, to support product development projects and meet project timelines.\nParticipate in brainstorming sessions, contribute innovative ideas, and stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in formulation science.\nFollow Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and other relevant regulatory requirements to ensure compliance with internal quality standards and external regulations.\nREQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING\n2-year technical degree or other related discipline and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.\nA high school diploma and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.\nQualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship for full-time employment.\nPREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS\nExperience in a laboratory setting, with hands-on experience in formulation development.\nExperience in the consumer products industry.\nUnderstanding of basic chemistry principles and laboratory techniques, including weighing, mixing, emulsification, and viscosity measurement.\nUnderstanding of the functional properties, proper use, and the environmental impact of chemical ingredients.\nFamiliarity with laboratory equipment and instruments, such as balances, pH meters, viscometers, and spectrophotometers.\nDetail-oriented with excellent organizational and record-keeping skills, able to document procedures, results, and observations accurately and efficiently.\nEffective communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate technical information clearly and concisely.\nProactive problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot experimental challenges and propose solutions.\nCommitment to safety, quality, and compliance with laboratory protocols and procedures.\nJOB REQUIREMENTS\nThis is a full-time position with regular business hours, Monday through Friday.\nAbility to lift 10 - 40 pounds.\nTravel up to 5%.\nThis position is not eligible for domestic relocation assistance.\nBENEFITS AND PERKS\nSC Johnson’s total compensation packages are at or above industry levels.
