We are looking for a Certified Arborist to become our internal expert for tree care while helping us expand our tree-service capabilities. This is a hands-on field position.\nCompensation\nBase Salary: $66,000/year. Performance Bonus Opportunity: $12,000+/year. Target Total Compensation: $78,000+/year.\nPerformance bonuses will be tied to measurable results including profitable tree work, estimating performance, quality, safety, crew development, and overall individual/company performance. Exceptional performance can create opportunities to earn beyond the initial $12,000 annual bonus target.\nWhat You Will Do\nServe as Grey Barn's primary tree-care expert, performing and leading tree pruning, removals, planting, and chainsaw work\nIdentify and document hazardous or declining trees, storm damage, and pruning and planting opportunities for the Sales/Account Management team\nSupport the sales team on tree opportunities by visiting properties and estimating labor hours, crew size, and equipment for tree work\nReview larger or more complicated tree estimates before proposals are submitted\nProvide hands-on training and coaching to Crew Leaders and field employees on proper pruning, tree planting, and chainsaw safety. Teach while you work\nEstablish and maintain Grey Barn's standards for chainsaw safety, PPE, aerial work, and rigging, with the authority and responsibility to stop unsafe tree work\nAssist crews with shrub pruning, hedge trimming, planting, and other landscaping duties as assigned\nRequirements\nCurrent ISA Certified Arborist credential\n5+ years of professional arboriculture/tree-care experience\nDemonstrated tree pruning, tree-removal, and tree-planting experience\nStrong tree identification knowledge and ability to identify common tree-health and safety issues\nAbility to estimate labor hours for tree work\nStrong understanding of chainsaw and tree-work safety\nExperience operating professional tree-care equipment\nAbility to train and coach field employees\nWillingness to perform physical field work and general landscaping work when needed\nValid driver's license\nAbility to work outdoors throughout the year\nStrongly Preferred\n7+ years of professional arboriculture experience\nPrevious tree-crew leadership and experience training field crews\nCommercial landscaping experience\nTree-work estimating experience\nAerial lift/bucket-truck, climbing, and rigging experience\nCDL\nISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ)\nBilingual English/Spanish\nYou Will Thrive Here If You\nWant a hands-on field role\nTeach while you work\nPut safety first, including stopping unsafe tree work\nOwn your estimates, your numbers, and your results\nEnjoy working with crews and the sales team\nThis Is Probably Not the Role for You If You\nWant to work behind a desk\nCut corners on safety, PPE, or rigging\nPrefer to work alone instead of training others\nAvoid estimating or supporting the sales team\nDo not want to do general landscaping work when needed\nOur Core Values\nHave Fun: Work hard and move fast, and enjoy the people on your crew.
