We want someone who knows irrigation extremely well and enjoys doing the work.\nCompensation Details\nPerformance incentives will be tied to measurable results including:\nIrrigation installation and repair gross profit\nEstimating accuracy\nEstimated versus actual labor\nProject quality\nRepair turnaround\nCallbacks/rework\nCrew training\nSafety\nOverall individual and company performance\nExceptional performance can create opportunities to earn beyond the initial $12,000 annual bonus target.\nWhat You Will Do\nLead and personally perform new irrigation installations and major system improvements, from scope to materials to installation to testing to a completed working system\nServe as the primary irrigation troubleshooting expert, diagnosing and repairing heads, valves, mainline and lateral-line breaks, wiring, controllers and failed zones before replacing parts\nAct as the technical irrigation resource for Sales and Account Management, determining labor hours, crew size, materials and equipment for estimates\nDevelop standardized production rates for common irrigation work and compare estimated hours against actual completed hours\nTrain Crew Leaders and field employees to recognize leaks, broken heads, coverage problems and controller issues, and to know when to escalate\nIdentify leaks, failed zones, aging systems and upgrade opportunities during property visits and document them for Sales and Account Management\nAssist with landscape installations, planting, drainage and maintenance when irrigation work does not require your full schedule\nRequirements\n5+ years professional irrigation experience\nSignificant experience with both irrigation installation AND repair\nAbility to independently troubleshoot commercial irrigation systems\nExperience installing complete irrigation systems\nStrong irrigation electrical/wiring troubleshooting skills\nExperience with valves, heads, piping, controllers and related components\nUnderstanding of irrigation hydraulics\nAbility to lay out and execute an irrigation installation\nAbility to develop accurate materials lists\nAbility to estimate labor hours for installations and repairs\nExperience leading irrigation crews or projects\nAbility to train less-experienced employees\nValid driver's license\nAbility to perform physically demanding outdoor work\nWillingness to assist with other landscaping work as needed\nStrongly Preferred\nCandidates with extensive experience who don't currently hold an irrigation certification may be considered but should be willing to obtain an agreed-upon certification after joining Grey Barn.\nCertified Irrigation Technician (CIT)\nCertified Irrigation Contractor (CIC)\nCertified Landscape Irrigation Auditor (CLIA)\nBackflow certification\n7+ years irrigation experience\nCommercial irrigation experience\nTwo-wire systems\nSmart controllers\nPump systems\nIrrigation design/layout\nIrrigation estimating\nBilingual English/Spanish\nYou Will Thrive Here If You\nKnow irrigation extremely well and enjoy doing the work yourself\nDiagnose the problem before replacing parts and take pride in solving the actual cause\nLike teaching crews while you work\nCan work with Sales to scope, estimate and price irrigation work profitably\nPitch in on landscaping work when irrigation is slow\nThis Is Probably Not the Role for You If You\nWant a desk or supervisory-only position\nPrefer to replace parts rather than diagnose the root problem\nAre not interested in training others or sharing what you know\nDo not want to help with landscaping work when needed\nAre not comfortable with physically demanding outdoor work\nOur Core Values\nHave Fun: Bring energy.
