You will work on device applications and Linux software integration, ensuring reliable communication, efficient data handling, and secure software updates across our products.\nIn this role, you will also contribute to user-facing service and diagnostic applications built with modern JavaScript and TypeScript technologies. While the main focus is on embedded and backend development, you will have opportunities to support cloud integration and development tooling initiatives.\nWe are looking for an engineer with strong Linux and systems development experience who enjoys solving challenges across different layers of the software stack. You do not need to be an expert in every technology area; we value deep expertise in core development skills, a collaborative mindset, and a willingness to learn and grow in adjacent technologies.\nJob Responsibilities\nKey responsibilities in this role:\nDevelop and maintain Go services for device communication, telemetry collection, local processing and secure transfer to cloud services.\nMaintain and extend embedded Linux software, including build configuration, application packaging, system images and service integration.\nDevelop user interface features and application logic for service, diagnostic and device-management tools.\nInvestigate problems across application code, Linux services and network communication using logs, metrics and reproducible tests.\nImprove recovery from interrupted connections, restarts and partial transfers while managing device CPU, memory and storage constraints.\nApply security best practices to device communication, access control and software updates.\nWrite automated tests, review code and maintain build and release pipelines and technical documentation.\nCollaborate with hardware, embedded software, cloud and product colleagues; contribute to related APIs and release tooling when needed.\nWho You Are\nProven professional experience in software development for Linux-based, embedded, or connected systems\nA degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field\nHands-on experience with Go development and automated testing\nStrong knowledge of Linux system administration and troubleshooting\nExperience with embedded Linux development and build frameworks such as Yocto, OpenEmbedded, or Buildroot\nWorking knowledge of TypeScript/JavaScript and modern frontend frameworks such as React\nUnderstanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP and asynchronous communication\nExperience with Git, code reviews, CI/CD practices, and secure software development principles\nIt is a plus if you have experience with:\nReact, Electron, Node.js, Docker, Python, or shell scripting\nDevice communication protocols and connected-device technologies\nOver-the-air software updates and device security\nCloud platforms, APIs, SQL databases, and software release automation\nWe welcome applicants from all backgrounds - your unique experience and perspectives is valuable to us.\nThis Is Us\nElectrification is essential to decarbonizing the world, and it needs to happen faster and at scale.
