With over 300 software engineers in Kraków and Gdańsk, we provide high-quality technological solutions that support the operations and innovations of\nABOUT THE TEAM\nSchibsted provides one account across multiple sites, helping users manage their identity in one place. This enables SSO and a smooth login and registration experience across Schibsted sites, while making it easier for users to manage their profiles, stored payment methods and privacy settings.\nOur team is responsible for Schibsted Account, the Consent Management Platform and privacy-related products.\nWe’re a cross-functional team of 2 Product Managers, 1 UX Designer, 1 Data Analyst and 10 engineers based in Poland and Sweden.\nWe have the autonomy to explore new ways forward, choose the tools and technologies we use, and influence the future of the Schibsted Account product. We also put a strong emphasis on self-development and knowledge sharing, including a 10% learning day and a training budget.\nWe follow the “You build it, you run it” principle, which means the team takes ownership of the infrastructure behind the products we develop.\nOur tech stack\nOur stack is broad, but we don’t expect you to be familiar with everything:\nBackend: Kotlin, Scala, Java, PHP\nDatabases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, OpenSearch\nCI/CD: GitHub Actions\nInfrastructure: AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform\nMonitoring: Grafana, VictoriaMetrics/Prometheus, PagerDuty\nABOUT THE ROLE\nAs a Junior or Mid JVM Backend Engineer, you’ll help us develop login and privacy solutions that are as seamless, intuitive and frictionless as possible - without compromising security.\nDepending on your experience, you’ll have room to develop your skills while contributing to production systems and gradually taking greater ownership.\nWhat you’ll do\nDesign and develop new functionality for Schibsted Account and the Non-Behavioral Consent Management Platform\nTake part in owning and maintaining product infrastructure in AWS, with support from a dedicated DevOps team\nSuggest improvements and future developments with maintainability in mind, considering the existing tech stack and architecture\nSupport the solutions we develop as part of our day-to-day work\nCollaborate with Product Managers and other stakeholders\nABOUT YOU\nYou have:\nAround 1-2 years of experience in software development\nExperience with and knowledge of JVM languages, particularly Kotlin or Java\nExperience designing and building services in a cloud environment such as AWS\nGood collaboration, communication and problem-solving skills\nCuriosity and willingness to learn, share knowledge and take increasing ownership of the solutions you work on\nCommunicative proficiency in Polish and fluency in English are required for this role.\nYou don’t need to tick every box in our broader technology stack. If you have a different technical background but are eager to learn and ready to take responsibility for the solutions you help create, we’d still like to hear from you.\nIt’s great if you also have:\nExperience designing, building or operating large-scale distributed systems\nExperience with DynamoDB or another NoSQL database\nExperience with MySQL, PostgreSQL or another relational database\nExperience with Docker, Terraform, AWS or Kubernetes\nKnowledge of authentication standards such as OAuth and OpenID\nKnowledge of RESTful APIs and queues such as SNS and SQS\nThese are additional advantages rather than a checklist of things you need to know before joining us.\nWork model\nThis is a hybrid role based in Kraków.
