With over 300 software engineers in Kraków and Gdańsk, we provide high-quality technological solutions that support the operations and innovations of both parent companies.\n\nABOUT THE PLATFORM\nWe’re building and evolving an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) that provides a secure, scalable and reliable foundation for Schibsted.\nThe goal is straightforward, even if the engineering behind it isn’t: enable application workloads to run consistently across environments while reducing the operational overhead for product teams.\nThe platform covers Kubernetes, AWS cloud infrastructure, networking, automation, reliability, security, developer experience and FinOps. A big part of our work is turning that infrastructure complexity into capabilities that are simple and practical for developers to use.\n\nABOUT THE ROLE\nAs a Junior Platform Engineer, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers across different layers of the platform, developing your skills while contributing to how the platform operates and how developers interact with it.\nYou won’t just maintain infrastructure. You’ll learn how to automate and improve it, and contribute to reusable, self-service capabilities that allow product teams to spend less time thinking about the underlying platform and more time building great products.\nYou’ll:\nContribute to building and evolving our Kubernetes platform, working with areas such as cluster lifecycle, availability, scalability, workload scheduling and capacity management.\nSupport the development of our AWS cloud and networking foundations, including cloud infrastructure, account structures, network topology, cluster networking, service-to-service connectivity and edge integrations.\nHelp automate infrastructure and workflows using Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD, reducing manual work and creating consistent, repeatable ways of working.\nContribute to reliability and observability through monitoring, logging and alerting, while learning how we approach on-call and incident response. What we learn from incidents should translate into lasting platform improvements.\nSupport security improvements across the platform, including cluster hardening, identity integration and infrastructure-level policy enforcement.\nHelp improve developer experience by contributing to self-service capabilities, sensible defaults and platform tooling that reduce friction and cognitive load.\nContribute to improving infrastructure cost efficiency by supporting cloud cost visibility and allocation and the optimisation of compute, storage and network usage.\nYou’ll work closely with experienced engineers, architects, developers and other stakeholders across Schibsted, sharing knowledge, learning from others and gradually taking on more responsibility as your skills grow.\n\nABOUT YOU\nYou already have some commercial experience in software engineering, infrastructure, cloud or a related area and want to develop further in platform engineering.\nYou enjoy solving infrastructure problems, but you’re also interested in making that complexity easier for the people using the platform. You don’t need to know everything from day one - we’re looking for a solid technical foundation, curiosity and the ability to learn.\nYou have:\nSome hands-on commercial experience with Kubernetes and container-based platforms.\nExperience or practical knowledge of cloud infrastructure, including compute and networking.\nExperience with AWS and EKS.\nFamiliarity with Infrastructure as Code and infrastructure automation.\nUnderstanding of CI/CD practices and automated delivery workflows.\nFamiliarity with observability concepts, including monitoring, logging and alerting.\nBasic understanding of reliability engineering and how teams can learn from incidents.\nAwareness of infrastructure and Kubernetes security practices.\nAn analytical approach to troubleshooting and solving technical problems.\nA collaborative mindset and willingness to share knowledge, ask questions and learn from others.\nIt’s great if you also have:\nHands-on knowledge of Terraform and Atlantis.\nExperience with Argo CD and GitHub Actions.\nKnowledge of OpenTelemetry (OTel).\nExperience with capacity or performance optimisation.\nExposure to FinOps, cloud cost visibility or cloud cost optimisation.\nYou don’t need to tick every box. We’re interested in what you already know, the experience you’ve gained so far, how you approach unfamiliar problems and your ability to learn and grow.\n\nHOW WE WORK\nPlatform engineering is rarely about solving isolated technical problems. It requires understanding how infrastructure decisions affect developers, products and the wider organization.\nWe value people who are curious enough to ask questions and challenge existing solutions, comfortable sharing their perspective and eager to learn from more experienced colleagues.\nYou’ll have room to develop your skills, experiment and gradually take on more ownership.
