Our work is woven into communities through our six design studios: K-12 Education, Higher Education, Healthcare, Workplace, Community, and Lifestyle.\nOur team of professionals includes architects, MEPTC engineers, interior designers, energy engineers, landscape architects, construction administration professionals, and administrative and support staff-all working together to serve clients’ needs, build stronger communities, and improve lives.\nSchmidt Associates is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead project grading, drainage, stormwater, and utility design efforts across a variety of project types. This role will serve as a technical leader and mentor within the civil engineering team, coordinating multidisciplinary projects while ensuring design excellence, quality standards, and client satisfaction.\nThe ideal candidate is a collaborative problem solver with strong technical expertise, project leadership experience, and a passion for mentoring emerging professionals.\nResponsibilities\nLead civil engineering design for site development projects including grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater management, and erosion control.\nCoordinate civil engineering efforts with architects, landscape architects, MEPTC engineers, and external consultants.\nManage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality standards, budgets, and deadlines.\nPrepare and oversee construction documents, technical specifications, calculations, reports, permitting submissions, and cost estimates.\nProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff and support team development.\nParticipate in client meetings, presentations, and project planning discussions.\nReview shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals during construction administration.\nEnsure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and permitting requirements.\nSupport continuous improvement of office standards, procedures, and best practices.\nContribute to business development efforts and maintain strong client relationships.\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.\n8+ years of related civil engineering experience preferred.\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain licensure quickly.\nStrong experience with site development, grading, drainage, utility, and stormwater design.\nProficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D required; Revit experience is a plus.\nExperience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and mentoring staff.\nStrong communication, organizational, and project management skills.\nFamiliarity with permitting processes and applicable codes/regulations.\nDesire to contribute to a collaborative, servant leadership culture.\nWhy Schmidt Associates\nAt Schmidt Associates, we believe design has the power to strengthen communities and improve lives.
