Teaching will combine business theory with practical application across areas such as economics, marketing, operations, entrepreneurship, ethical business and strategic management.\nYou will use case studies, live business challenges, commercial projects and collaborative activities to help students apply their learning to food producers, retailers, suppliers, hospitality organisations and specialist food enterprises.\nThe role would suit either an experienced lecturer or a food-sector professional with strong commercial knowledge who is looking to develop a career in higher education. Applicants without extensive teaching experience will need to demonstrate the ability to communicate complex information clearly, support learners effectively and develop engaging learning activities.\nWhat You’ll Be Doing\nPlan and deliver lectures, seminars, workshops and applied learning activities across Food Business Management modules.\nTeach relevant subjects including business economics, consumer behaviour, marketing, operations, entrepreneurship, sustainability, business ethics and strategic management.\nUse food-sector examples, case studies and commercial data to connect academic theory with real business practice.\nSupport students to undertake market research, analyse consumer behaviour and develop customer-focused business and marketing proposals.\nDevelop students’ commercial skills through activities involving pitching, negotiation, teamwork, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving.\nHelp students understand the economic, environmental and social pressures affecting modern food businesses.\nDesign and assess a range of applied assessments, including business reports, presentations, portfolios, research projects and team challenges.\nProvide clear, constructive and timely feedback that helps students improve their academic and professional performance.\nOffer academic guidance and appropriate pastoral support, referring students to specialist services where required.\nContribute to module development, programme review, assessment design and continuous improvement activity.\nWork with employers, guest speakers and industry partners to create relevant projects and learning opportunities.\nMaintain accurate academic records and meet internal quality assurance, moderation and compliance requirements.\nParticipate in staff development, scholarly activity and relevant engagement with the food and higher education sectors.\nRequirements\nWhat We’re Looking For\nEssential\nA relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in Food Business, Business Management, Marketing, Economics, Food Industry Management or a closely related field.\nStrong knowledge of commercial and management principles and how they apply within the food sector.\nExperience teaching, training, mentoring, presenting or communicating complex information to different audiences.\nAbility to create engaging learning activities that combine theory with practical and commercial application.\nStrong communication, organisation and relationship-management skills.\nA clear commitment to inclusive teaching, student support and continuous improvement.\nDesirable\nA relevant postgraduate qualification.\nPrevious teaching experience within higher education, further education or professional training.\nA recognised teaching qualification or Fellowship of Advance HE.\nProfessional experience within food production, retail, hospitality, supply chain, product development, marketing or food entrepreneurship.\nExperience designing or assessing undergraduate modules.\nExperience using live briefs, employer projects or client-based learning.\nKnowledge of quality assurance and academic governance within UK higher
