Your work will extend across embedded software, hardware integration, Edge AI, audio processing, device deployment and the cloud services supporting our deployed fleet.\nThis is not a narrow software role.\nYou will work closely with hardware, electronics, AI, cloud and manufacturing specialists to solve complex engineering problems and turn emerging technologies into dependable, field-ready products.\nYou do not need to be the deepest specialist in every area. You will, however, need the engineering judgement, curiosity and adaptability to move between disciplines and improve the reliability of the complete system.\nWhat you will be working on:\nOwn and continuously improve our embedded Linux platform, including Yocto builds, boot configuration, device trees, kernel changes, drivers and system services.\nImprove build, release, provisioning, flashing, diagnostics and over-the-air update processes.\nDevelop more secure and repeatable workflows for deploying, maintaining and recovering connected devices.\nIntegrate and troubleshoot cameras, microphones, cellular modems and environmental sensors.\nWork across hardware interfaces including I2C, SPI, UART, CSI, USB and PCIe.\nStrengthen device security through OS hardening, secure boot, improved key management and vulnerability management.\nProfile and optimise embedded machine-learning inference and computer-vision features within device power, compute and bandwidth constraints.\nSupport quantisation, NPU integration and power-aware Edge AI runtime improvements.\nEnhance audio-analysis capabilities, including event detection, classification, direction of arrival and multimodal detection.\nContribute to backend services, APIs, data pipelines and internal tools supporting our deployed sensor fleet.\nImprove fleet diagnostics, observability and operational reliability.\nWork closely with a small multidisciplinary team from early concept through to manufacturing and field deployment.\nYou will help us create a platform where:\nDevices can be built, provisioned, updated and recovered through secure, repeatable processes.\nEdge AI, computer vision and audio-analysis features perform reliably within real-world hardware constraints.\nNew cameras, modems, microphones and sensors can be integrated without fragile one-off solutions.\nDevice issues can be diagnosed and resolved effectively across a deployed fleet.\nData is reliably ingested, processed and stored through observable cloud services.\nEngineering decisions consider the entire product lifecycle, from development and manufacturing to deployment and long-term operation.\n To be successful, you will have:\nStrong production software engineering experience with substantial hands-on embedded Linux development.\nAdvanced capability in C/C++ and Python.\nExperience with Yocto or a comparable embedded Linux build system.\nConfidence working with device trees, kernels, drivers, system services and hardware-level debugging.\nExperience integrating software directly with cameras, modems, sensors or other electronic hardware.\nA track record of improving build, deployment, update or operational reliability for connected devices.\nStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate issues across software and hardware boundaries.\nSound engineering judgement and the ability to make practical technical decisions.\nClear communication skills and the confidence to work independently within a small multidisciplinary team.\nExperience that would be valuable\nYou do not need to bring everything on this list, but exposure to any of the following would be highly regarded:\nEdge machine-learning runtimes, accelerators or NPUs\nComputer vision or embedded inference optimisation\nModel quantisation and power-aware runtime integration\nAudio DSP, event classification or direction-of-arrival processing\nSecure boot, device hardening and embedded cybersecurity\nCellular, wireless or low-power IoT connectivity\nLinux networking and connected-device diagnostics\nMQTT, streaming data or time-series platforms\nFleet management and observability\nCloud infrastructure, APIs and data pipelines\nInternal web tools or modern web development\nProducts operating in outdoor, industrial or resource-constrained environments\nWhy join Schréder EdgeMachines?\nWork on complete, real-world technology\nYour work will connect embedded Linux, outdoor electronics, Edge AI, wireless communications, cloud services and manufacturing.
