It underpins the metrics, data products and applications used to understand and manage technology risk across Schroders.\nYou will look after the platform and the pipelines that feed it, and build the monitoring and automation that keep it trustworthy, so that issues are caught and fixed before they affect users. As part of the Security & IT Infrastructure Services, we collaborate closely with teams across Cyber Security, Technology Risk, and IT Infrastructure Services to ensure delivery of secure Infrastructure services.\nWhat you’ll do\nData platform\nOwn and evolve the team’s Snowflake data platform, keeping it reliable, performant and cost-effective, and making sure changes reach production safely\nDesign data models and data products that are well documented, reusable and easy for others to build on\nManage access to the platform and protect sensitive data, applying least-privilege and data governance principles\nMonitoring and reliability\nBuild clear visibility into platform and pipeline health, data freshness, quality and cost, giving the team the information it needs to act early\nApply statistical and machine-learning techniques to spot unusual data patterns, including issues that may otherwise go unnoticed\nAutomate detection, alerting and safe recovery of common issues, and give the wider team the tools to investigate and fix problems themselves\nTrace how data is used downstream, so affected users can be alerted when freshness or quality issues arise\nLead the investigation and resolution of production issues, fixing root causes so that problems do not recur\nData engineering\nDesign, build and operate reliable, scalable data pipelines across the team’s ingestion and orchestration tools\nOnboard new data sources from across Cyber Security and IT Infrastructure, choosing the right ingestion and loading pattern for each\nTurn security and infrastructure data into data products that help the business understand and reduce risk\nArchitecture and technical leadership\nHelp shape the platform’s architecture and lead the design of new data solutions, weighing up options, trade-offs and risks\nWork with teams across Technology to understand their needs and keep the platform aligned with Schroders’ wider data strategy and standards\nPromote engineering best practice across the team, contribute to its standards and mentor more junior engineers\nThe knowledge, experience and qualifications you need\nData engineering experience, including hands-on work on a production data platform at scale\nStrong Snowflake experience, including RBAC, tasks and streams, secure views and masking, and performance and cost management\nA solid understanding of data warehousing and data modelling, including layered architectures and incremental loading\nStrong Python and SQL, with experience building production-grade data pipelines\nExperience building monitoring, alerting and data quality checks for data platforms, and supporting them in production\nExperience applying software engineering best practice, such as version control with Git, code review, testing and CI/CD, in a regulated environment\nA good understanding of data governance, security and access management, including privileged access and handling sensitive data\nExperience producing solution designs, explaining technical trade-offs and reviewing others’ work\nThe knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help\nIngestion and orchestration tools such as Ansible, Apache NiFi or Cribl\nDocker, Kubernetes and AWS services such as S3, Lambda, Step Functions and SageMaker\nWorking with Cyber Security and Infrastructure data, such as ServiceNow, Entra ID and Active Directory\nApplying machine learning or AI to operational problems, such as anomaly detection\nAI-assisted development with tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code\nStreamlit and Power BI\nA Snowflake or architecture certification, such as SnowPro Core or AWS Solutions Architect\nWhat you’ll be like\nA curious, pragmatic problem-solver who fixes root causes, not just symptoms.\nA systems thinker who considers how each change affects the wider platform and its users.\nA drive to automate, with little patience for doing the same manual task twice.\nConfidence explaining technical decisions to technical and non-technical audiences.\nA commitment to sharing knowledge and helping others in the team grow.\nWe Recognise Potential, Whoever You Are\nOur purpose is to deliver excellent investment performance to clients through active management.
