This role is part of Schumacher North America, which is the largest division of the company.\nAbout The Role\nWe are seeking an experienced Temporary Payroll Manager to run end-to-end payroll for 500+ employees in UKG from October 26, 2026 through January 31, 2027. This is a hands-on role: you will process every pay run, own payroll tax registration and reconciliation, and keep employee records accurate.\nYou will also play a key part in two transitions. First, you will help implement Rippling as our new payroll system. Second, you will help close out a former entity in each state where it operates, partnering with Finance on final payment remittances. The ideal candidate is detail-driven, works independently from day one and is comfortable in a period of change.\nKey Responsibilities\nEnd-to-end payroll processing (UKG)\nRun the full payroll cycle for 500+ employees, from data intake through final approval and funding. \nEnter all payroll transactions in UKG, including new hires, terminations, pay changes, bonuses, commission, incentives, deductions, garnishments and off-cycle payments. \nMaintain accurate employee profiles in UKG, including pay, tax, direct deposit and deduction setups. \nPrepare and review pre- and post-payroll audits and variance reports; resolve discrepancies before payroll is finalized. \nProcess off-cycle, manual and final paychecks in line with state final-pay requirements. \nRespond to employee and manager payroll questions promptly and accurately. \nPayroll tax registration and reconciliation\nOwn state and local payroll tax registrations, including new account setups, rate updates and agency correspondence. \nReconcile payroll tax filings and payments against payroll registers and agency records each pay period and quarter. \nResearch and resolve tax notices, penalties and account discrepancies. \nSupport Q4 and year-end close, including W-2 preparation and review. \nRippling payroll implementation\nAssist with pay runs during the transition, including any parallel runs between UKG and Rippling. \nHelp gather, validate and map data for migration, such as employee records, earnings and deduction codes, tax setups and year-to-date balances. \nTest payroll results in Rippling and reconcile them against UKG output. \nHelp document new payroll processes and controls for the team. \nKeep registrations up to date in both UKG and Rippling. \nIn January, work on the transition of POA and TPA to Rippling. \nFormer entity termination\nHelp close out the former entity in each operating state, including payroll tax account closures and final filings. \nWork with Finance on payment remittances to tax agencies and other payees tied to the former entity. \nTrack closure status by state and escalate open items or risks. \nQualifications\n5-10 years of progressive payroll experience, including end-to-end processing for 500+ employees. \nHands-on experience running payroll in UKG (UKG Pro). \nMulti-state payroll experience, including state and local tax registration, filings and reconciliation. \nStrong knowledge of federal, state and local payroll regulations, including final-pay rules. \nProven ability to reconcile payroll registers, tax filings and general ledger entries. \nAdvanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) for audits and reconciliations. \nHigh attention to detail, sound judgment with confidential data and the ability to meet fixed payroll deadlines. \nPreferred qualifications\nExperience with Rippling or another payroll system implementation or conversion. \nExperience closing out an entity, including payroll tax account closures across multiple states. \nBenefits Package\nYour well-being is our top priority.
