In this role, you will perform protective relay installation, testing, and troubleshooting; panel and cabinet modifications; cable and fiber routing; control house integration; conduit installation; and field commissioning while ensuring safe execution through ICTR and LOTO planning. You will also lead installation technicians on complex projects, provide mentorship, develop field installation estimates, and maintain accurate documentation and as-built drawings. Qualified candidates will hold a valid Journeyman license in applicable states, possess SQEW certification, have experience reading electrical schematics and one-line diagrams, and be willing to travel up to 75%. Ideal candidates bring experience with control panel wiring, active substations, and SEL products, along with a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and delivering high-quality electrical installations in demanding field environments.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\n1. Perform electrical field installations of varying complexity.\n2. Perform the following functions:\na. Protective relay installation, testing troubleshooting\nb. Panel and cabinet demolition, installation and modification\nc. Cable routing and assembly (including fiber)\nd. Control house integration and assembly\ne. Conduit forming and installation\n3. Develop and maintain knowledge of SEL Engineering Services processes and products.\n4. Supervise installation technicians on projects of moderate to high complexity.\n5. Generate, review and approve ICTR (Isolation, Commissioning, Testing and Restoration) plans and LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) plans.\n6. Generate field installation estimates for projects of basic to moderate complexity.\n7. Acts as a mentor to Installation Technicians.\n8. Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.\n9. Understand. Create. Simplify.\n10. Other duties as assigned.\nRequired Qualifications\nMust have a Journeyman’s license (Electrician or Linesman) in the state(s) in which you will be working\nBasic working knowledge of analog and digital electronics\nModerate ability to utilize AutoCAD for updating field as-built drawings\nAbility to read and comprehend both mechanical and electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, one-line diagrams and three-line diagrams\nSQEW certification\nCompletion of at least one of the following: COM-102, COM-103, and/or COM-104 certification\nWilling to travel up to 75% of the time\nStrong writing, documentation, and speaking skills\nAbility to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities\nAbility to work cooperatively in a team environment\nBackground check results satisfactory to SEL\nNegative drug test result(s)\nPreferred Qualifications\nGenerally, requires 4+ years of experience in an Electricians or Linesman Apprenticeship\nControl panel wiring experience\nExperience with SEL products\nExperience working in active substations\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to work in outside environments with varying climates\nAbility to stand, walk, sit, bend, squat, climb, and use arm and hand movements\nAbility to carry tools and to handle materials and equipment of up to 50 pounds\nAbility to work at heights on lifts, stepladders and/or extension ladders\nCompetitive pay.
