Candidates who are available to work part-time during the academic year and full-time during the summer at our Charlotte office are especially encouraged to apply.\nA typical day might include the following:\nSupport SEL’s software development process .\nVerify that software meets requirements.\nImplement software design.\nProvide support to engineering staff as needed.\nFollow engineering quality assurance procedures.\nContinuously identify, measure, and improve processes.\nFollow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.\nUnderstand. Create. Simplify.\nOther duties as assigned.\nRequired Qualifications:\nCurrent student pursuing a degree in computer science or equivalent with at least one year of technical coursework completed.\nProgramming experience in C# or JavaScript or TypeScript.\nAbility to execute and document defined testing procedures.\nStrong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.\nAbility to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.\nAbility to work cooperatively in a team environment.\nBackground check results satisfactory to SEL.\nNegative drug test result(s).\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience using scripting languages, such as Python, PowerShell.\nPractical knowledge of developing Microsoft Windows or web applications.\nKnowledge of SQL and database concepts.\nExperience using revision control and source code management systems such as Git or Rational ClearCase.\nAbout Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories\nSEL designs, manufactures, and supports products and systems that protect, monitor, control, and automate electric power systems.
