We develop critical products that provide the main interface for protecting, controlling, monitoring & analyzing the power grid. As an Intern on our team, you will play a key role in our business by inventing innovative ways to display & interact with the power system via software.\nA user centered design philosophy is essential to meeting the unique needs of our users. As a member of the UX Design Team, you will find yourself working alongside and collaborating with other UX Designers, User Researchers, Product Managers, and Software Developers. Your flexibility and willingness to assist where needed, learn a variety of new skills, communicate with a wide variety of teammates, and work on multiple projects simultaneously is crucial.\nThe ideal candidate should be passionate about solving Enterprise UX problems, working in a technical design environment, have experience designing user interfaces, be an expert and detailed in their craft and champion the user’s needs in all cases. They will be adept at transforming complex tasks into intuitive workflows, converting complex information into accessible and rich data visualization, taming complex systems with elegant information architecture, and inventing new ways to perceive, predict & interact with the electric power grid.\nAs a User Experience Design Intern, a typical day might include the following:\nEnd-to-end design of software products with world-class user experience.\nParticipating in an environment of open collaboration, critique, and communication.\nApplying user experience design and validation principles & techniques.\nApplying visual design and communications principles & techniques.\nDeveloping moderate expertise in at least one SEL-specific problem domain.\nParticipating in conducting user experience research and validation.\nDesigning solutions to a wide range of complex problems requiring UX creativity and ingenuity.\nWorking under general supervision of Design Leads, following established procedures.\nThis job might be for you if:\nYou are pursuing degree in interaction, graphic or visual communications design, human computer interaction, or a related field.\nYou have demonstrable experience in designing, prototyping, and testing user interfaces for one or both of the following areas:Web, mobile, and/or desktop applications\nHardware and embedded hardware displays\n\nYou have experience with graphic design, interaction design and display design principles.\nYou have experience with the methodologies and techniques of user experience design.\nYou have a moderate understanding of user experience research methods, including how to participate and integrate research results.\nRequired Qualifications:\nCurrent student pursuing a BA/BS degree in interaction, graphic or visual communications design, human computer interaction, or a related field.\nBasic experience with graphic design, interaction design and display design principles.\nBasic experience with the methodologies and techniques of user experience design.\nBasic understanding of user experience research methods.\nStrong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.\nAbility to learn new skills, assume new responsibilities, and learn sophisticated problem domains.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience with UX design in sophisticated problem domains.\nExperience with UX design in a business-to-business environment.\nExperience in an Enterprise UX environment.\nLocation: Pullman, WA\nThis position is located in Pullman, WA.
