We celebrate our associates.\nEmbalmer Quality Control Lead serves as a senior expert in the mortuary field requiring at least five (5) years of experience as a licensed Embalmer. This crucial role operates on a 40-hour work/5days a week work week schedule and requires a willingness to alternate schedules to meet the needs of the department for essential mortuary operations. The role is responsible for the advanced cosmetic application, leading and overseeing quality control, providing hands-on mentorship to all embalming staff and completing the final check of all decedents prior to viewing/services. Ensure the highest standards are consistently met with every decedent prepared.Essential Job Functions: Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.\nSenior Leadership & Quality Control\n· Training and Mentorship: Provide hands-on training to all Quality Control (QC) staff (including new hires and apprentices), demonstrate advanced techniques, sharing best practices, and offering continuous feedback.\n· Quality Control: Implement and maintain a rigorous quality control process for all cases, conducting post-procedure reviews to ensure every deceased is prepared to the highest standards prior to viewing/service.\n· Case Management: Willing to take the lead on complex or challenging cases, overseeing cases requiring reconstructive work or specific legal considerations. Providing guidance and coaching to associates.\n· Compliance Documentation: Work with management to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Job Aids as well as prepare/present training modules to the mortuary/QC team on a continuous basis\n· Continuing Education: Explore workshops, courses, articles, seminars etc. to enhance department performance and knowledge.\nMortuary Operations\n· Preparation: Execute all technical procedures, including embalming human remains, dressing, cosmetizing, and casketing human remains for viewing, burial, and other final disposition.\n· Removals: Execute death calls and perform removals from places of death, including personal homes.\n· Environment: Maintain a neat and clean work environment, assisting with moving and organizing supplies.\nAdministration & Compliance\n· Professionally and courteously answer heavy phone traffic concerning removals and preparation needs.\n· Maintain positive, professional relationships with co-workers, third-party removal companies, and external partners (hospitals, Coroners Offices).\n· Ensure strict compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.\n· Self-manage workload and priorities; strictly adhere to attendance and dress code policies.\nEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSING\nExperience\n· At least five (5) years’ experience as a licensed Embalmer required. Funeral Directors license preferred.\nCertification/License\n· CA Embalmer’s License required\n· Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and maintain a good driving record.\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities\n· Knowledge: Demonstrate expert knowledge of industry regulations and preparation policies.\n· Communication: Professional, clear written and verbal communication skills.\n· Technical: Detail-oriented with the ability to manage complex tasks and interruptions efficiently.\n· Software: Proficient in HMIS and other proprietary software, as well as MS Office (Outlook, Excel).\n· Disposition: Must be self-motivated, adaptable to change, and committed to continuous learning.\nWork CONDITIONS\nWhen considering the work hours associated with this job, the following factors may apply:\n\nWork Environment\n· Must be able to physically and emotionally handle working around human remains. Hazard exposure includes human diseases, chemicals (formaldehyde, embalming fluid), sharps, and occasional low-level radioactivity.
