This position will work closely with our sales team, field project teams, and clients to ensure a sound design, and seamless installation and commissioning of our fire alarm solutions. This is a key position for our growing team and requires attention to detail in all aspects of executing projects. Customer and employee interface requires a high degree of effective human relations. Communication skills, both verbal and written, are important elements of the position. \nWHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (and doing well!)\nResponsible for reviewing system layouts and coordinating with engineering, project management, and sales departments for successful project execution. \nProduce field surveys and daily project logs of activity. \nProgram and commission complex fire alarm systems leading to final acceptance by customers and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs). \nInteract with AHJs for testing and resolution of any minor issues related to a fire alarm system final test.\nProduce detailed commissioning and inspection reports in accordance with NFPA. \nResponsible for complex troubleshooting and effective resolution. \nResponsible for delivering projects on schedule and within cost budgets. \nResponsible for programming systems via laptop computers. \nOversee project and vehicle inventory. \nDemonstrate proper operation of equipment and control units to customers and explain proper use and how to respond to any system signals.\nManage onsite projects including their safety, quality, and performance.\nReview and understand smoke reports and program all requirements related to a smoke control system. \nProvide support, guidance, and expertise to the other technicians. \nTrain and develop other service technicians on equipment and company policies and procedures.\nManage job scheduling and job progress in an efficient and cost-effective manner, with a strong focus on quality. \nDetermine placement of audible and visual notification and detection systems or components while in the field.\nComply with industry standard procedures and Sciens safety programs/policies. \n WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT YOU\nHigh school diploma or equivalent. \nMinimum of five (5) years of experience in a technician role within the fire-life safety industry.\nAdvanced understanding of fire alarm circuit integrity and how to troubleshoot for circuit opens, shorts, or ground conditions.\nIndependent ability to program the manufacturer's advanced system product platform(s)/graphical systems using a laptop computer.\nDemonstratable knowledge of fire alarm control unit and field equipment termination.\nAbility to make field decisions related to the installation of items such as audible and visual notification and detection placement.\nAbility to read and understand a smoke report and program all requirements related to a smoke control system.\nAbility to read fire system design drawings for installation and programming purposes. \nAbility to communicate and coordinate with onsite contractors.\nAbility to demonstrate proper operation of equipment and control units.\nAdvanced knowledge of NFPA 72 code requirements for the installation of a fire alarm system.\nAdvanced knowledge of Section 907 of the International Fire Code or state-adopted fire code.\nAdvanced knowledge of Section 909 of the International Building Code or state adopted building code.\nAdvanced knowledge of Article 760 of NFPA 70 (electrical code) for the installation of fire systems and circuiting. \nUnderstanding of state, local, contract, and/or product specific certifications determined by the business. \nNICET II or higher certification. \nKnowledge of state fire procedures, filing, and requirements. \nAbility to work under tight deadlines and with a sense of urgency. \nAbility to work independently with some supervision. \nKnowledge of OSHA safety standards and able to obtain OSHA 10 certification. \nCustomer-focused; skilled in project and people management. \nProficient in issue resolution. \nExcellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.\nBe physically fit to perform the demanding work of the trade, including frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds, maximum occasional lifting up to 50 pounds;
