The round was co-led by Accel and Bertelsmann India Investments.We are a team of 450+ professionals with entities in India, Japan, USA, UAE, and Indonesia.\nRole Overview\nWe are looking for a Payroll Manager - Payroll & Compliance to own and manage the organization’s end-to-end payroll function. The role will be responsible for ensuring accurate, timely and compliant payroll processing while driving strong payroll controls, statutory compliance, reconciliations, audits and reporting.\nThe ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in end-to-end payroll, statutory compliance, payroll taxation, payroll systems and payroll accounting, with the ability to manage payroll across multiple entities and locations.\nKey Responsibilities\nManage the end-to-end monthly payroll process for 400+ employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance.\nValidate and process payroll inputs including attendance, leave, variable pay, incentives, reimbursements, deductions, new joiners, exits and salary revisions.\nEnsure timely and accurate compliance with PF, ESIC, Professional Tax, TDS, Gratuity and other applicable statutory requirements.\nManage monthly payroll taxation, TDS calculations, tax declarations, investment proofs and Form 16 processes.\nConduct detailed payroll reconciliation across HRMS, payroll records, bank statements and Finance/accounting records.\nWork closely with Finance on payroll accounting, salary disbursement, month-end closure and reconciliation.\nPrepare and publish payroll MIS, headcount reports, payroll analytics and management dashboards.\nOwn periodic payroll and statutory audits, ensuring timely closure of observations and discrepancies.\nHandle employee queries related to salary, deductions, taxes, PF, reimbursements and statutory benefits.\nMaintain accurate payroll records and ensure strict confidentiality of employee compensation and personal data.\nManage payroll/HRMS systems and ensure accurate employee master data and payroll configuration.\nDrive payroll process improvements, automation, controls, and standardization to improve accuracy and efficiency.\nCoordinate with external payroll vendors, consultants, and statutory partners wherever required.\nTrack changes in applicable tax, payroll, and statutory regulations and ensure timely implementation.\nDevelop and maintain payroll SOPs, compliance trackers, process documentation and internal controls.\nQualifications & Experience\n5-8+ years of hands-on experience in Payroll and Payroll Compliance.\nStrong experience managing end-to-end payroll independently for a mid-sized or large organization.\nStrong working knowledge of PF, ESIC, Professional Tax, TDS, Gratuity and other applicable statutory compliances.\nHands-on experience with payroll taxation and Form 16.\nExperience with payroll/HRMS platforms such as Keka, Darwinbox, GreytHR, SAP, ADP or similar systems.\nStrong proficiency in MS Excel, including payroll reconciliation, analysis and MIS reporting.\nExperience working closely with Finance on payroll accounting and reconciliation.\nExperience handling payroll audits and statutory audits.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.\nAbility to manage sensitive payroll and compensation information with complete confidentiality.\nExperience managing payroll across multiple entities or locations is a plus.\nExperience in payroll system implementation/migration is an added advantage.\nIdeal Candidate Profile\nA hands-on payroll specialist with strong ownership of payroll and compliance.\nStrong understanding of the complete payroll cycle from inputs → processing → validation → reconciliation → statutory compliance → taxation → disbursement → reporting.\nStrong knowledge of payroll controls and ability to identify and resolve discrepancies independently.\nAbility to work effectively in a startup, fast-growing, multi-entity organization.\nStrong stakeholder management skills with HR, Finance, employees, auditors, and external vendors.","description_format":"text","description_chars":4552,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":5,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Biotechnology","Manufacturing","Chemical Manufacturing"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-27T09:06:30Z"}],"liveness":{"score":53,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.586,"p_room":0.9,"age_days":19,"expected_fill_days":47,"reasons":["conf:3","stale_co","win:mid"],"computed_at":"2026-09-28T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/scimplify-manager-payroll-compliance","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/scimplify-manager-payroll-compliance.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-09-29T04:11:28Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":3934,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":1066,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-09-30T00:00:00Z"}}}
