As a shared service, we get to work with all of Scopely's talented studios.\nAs Scopely continues to grow its global footprint and portfolio, we are seeking a Tax Manager to join the Finance team. Reporting to the VP, Global Tax, this role will help manage Scopely’s domestic and international tax matters across compliance, provision, planning, reporting, and risk management. \nThe Tax Manager will be a hands-on partner to the business, working closely with Finance, Accounting, and other teams to translate tax requirements into practical, scalable processes and advice. This is an opportunity to help shape a high-performing global tax function in a fast-moving interactive company.\nWhat You Will Do:\nOwn the day-to-day coordination of Scopely’s tax compliance calendar, partnering with external advisors and internal stakeholders to deliver timely, accurate federal, state, local, and international filings, estimates, extensions, and payments.\nPrepare or review quarterly and annual income tax provision calculations and related disclosures under ASC 740, including current and deferred tax, effective tax rate analysis, return-to-provision items, and cash tax summary.\nManage tax accounting records and reconciliations, including provision workpapers, tax account roll-forward, and variance analysis in support of the consolidated financial statements.\nCoordinate federal, state, local, and international tax audits, notices, and information requests with tax authorities, auditors, and outside advisors. \nSupport tax planning, quarterly estimates, cash tax forecasting, and strategies that balance tax efficiency, compliance, and risk.\nCoordinate the R&D tax credit and other tax incentive studies\nSupport international tax matters, including transfer pricing documentation, intercompany arrangements, withholding tax, and other cross-border compliance and reporting requirements.\nProvide support for indirect tax filings and related compliance, including sales and use, gross receipts, city, property, VAT/GST, and other transaction-based taxes, as applicable.\nMonitor nexus, registrations, and taxability across jurisdictions and business lines, and help maintain documentation supporting tax positions.\nResearch tax law and assess the implications of legislative changes and new business initiatives; communicate practical recommendations to non-tax stakeholders.\nPartner with Finance, Accounting, Legal, and other teams to obtain complete information and embed tax requirements into business processes and systems.\nHelp build and improve the tax function through standardized processes, internal controls, tax technology, automation, documentation, and data-quality checks.\nAssist the VP, Global Tax with M&A, tax due diligence, ad hoc projects, and other strategic initiatives that support Scopely’s continued expansion.\nWhat You Will Bring:\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, or a related field.\nFour to six years of progressive corporate tax experience, including strong U.S. federal and state income tax, tax compliance, and ASC 740 experience; multinational or global experience preferred.\nCPA strongly preferred; an MST in Taxation is a plus.\nA combination of Big Four or other public accounting experience and in-house industry experience is highly preferred.\nExperience managing external tax advisors and tax authorities while remaining hands-on and accountable for the underlying work product.\nWorking knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ASC 740, including current and deferred tax calculations, effective tax rate analysis, and uncertain tax positions. Knowledge of IFRS is a plus.\nStrong federal, multistate, local, and indirect tax experience, including nexus and taxability analysis; exposure to international tax, transfer pricing, withholding, or VAT/GST\nExperience in digital products, technology, gaming, entertainment, e-commerce, or another multinational business is preferred.\nProficiency with CCH, RIA, or comparable tax software and research tools. Experience with tax data, workflow, and automation, and AI tools.
