We are building our development team with makers, creators, and industry leaders who will drive us forward.\nThe Senior, Cloud Engineering role operates within the Cloud Platform Engineering team. This role specializes in Cloud Developer Experience (DevEx) Engineering, focusing on building tools, frameworks, and workflows designed to streamline cloud-native development, making it seamless, scalable, and delightful for developers. This valuable team member will be responsible for creating platform components and services that support broad enterprise use cases.\nIs this role right for you? In this role you will:\nKey accountabilities include the development and maintenance of cloud platforms, services, and components to enable the safe enterprise-wide use of common cloud functionality.\nLead development of internal portals and dashboards that empower developer productivity.\nAdvocate for developer needs in cloud-native development environments.\nLevel 3 support.\nDesign, implement, and refactor code.\nLead design discussions focused on scalability, design, and implementation best practices.\nEnsure software, programs, and applications are developed and/or configured to meet high availability, integrity, and reliability requirements.\nWork with other engineers and architects on breaking down, scoping, and estimating tasks.\nParticipate in planning and retrospective sessions, stand-ups, and other team ceremonies.\nBuild and operate highly available and scalable software and infrastructure.\nSupport application teams in using the platform, including providing guidance on design patterns, best practices, and security considerations.\nOur teams are flexible and fast - you will be asked to provide peer review and quality control on a daily basis.\nDo you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:\n5+ years of relevant industry experience.\nBachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline.\nEnthusiasm for cloud platform/components/services development and developer experience.\nEnthusiasm for leading-edge technologies and patterns.\nStrong desire to learn, grow, and support the growth of the team.\nStrong programming skills in at least three object-oriented and/or scripting languages, such as JavaScript, Java, and Python.\nStrong understanding of cloud-native application development.\nExperience in developing with a modern full-stack technology stack.\nExperience working with relational databases and non-relational databases.\nExperience working with AI coding assistants.\nStrong understanding of the software development life cycle and related technologies.\nStrong understanding of essential web application security concerns.\nUX sensibilities for developer-facing interfaces.\nExperience with cloud platforms, such as Azure and GCP, and cloud-native patterns\nLocation(s): Canada : Ontario : Toronto\nScotiabank is a leading bank in the Americas.
