The team plays a key role in ensuring platform stability, security, compliance, and operational excellence, while enabling rapid onboarding and modernization of data workloads.\nThe Role\nAs a Senior DevOps Engineer on the GBM Data Platform, you will provide technical leadership and hands-on expertise to design, operate, and continuously improve the bank’s data platform infrastructure. This role is a senior, production-facing position with responsibility for platform onboarding, reliability, and operational support for regulatory and compliance-driven workloads.\nThis role includes participation in an on-call rotation supporting critical production systems outside standard business hours.\nIs this role right for you? In this role you will:\nDesign, implement, and operate scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant cloud and on-prem infrastructure.\nProvide senior-level DevOps guidance for onboarding regulatory and compliance data workloads.\nDefine and promote CI/CD best practices and infrastructure automation across environments.\nImplement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure deployments.\nDeploy and manage containerized workloads using Kubernetes and Helm charts.\nMaintain development, staging, and production environments (e.g., GKE clusters).\nParticipate in on-call rotations to provide production support, incident response, and root-cause analysis.\nMonitor platform health using SLIs, SLOs, and proactive alerting.\nAutomate provisioning and scaling using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tool.\nConfigure and maintain backup, failover, and disaster recovery strategies.\nDo you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:\n5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) roles with production responsibility.\nStrong experience administering and supporting Kafka and/or Elasticsearch clusters in production environments.\nHands-on expertise with Kubernetes and Docker in enterprise-scale deployments.\nStrong Linux system administration experience (RHEL preferred).\nHands-on experience with CI/CD and automation tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, and Terraform.\nProficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash/Shell, and/or Groovy.\nExperience monitoring and managing system performance using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or Dynatrace.\nWorking knowledge of streaming platforms, SQL/NoSQL databases, and ETL solutions, preferably Kafka, Elasticsearch, and Apache NiFi.\nStrong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving skills for complex production issues.\nExperience participating in on-call rotations supporting mission-critical production systems.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.\nPreferred/Nice to have Skills\nExperience working with GCP or other public cloud platforms.\nExperience supporting regulatory, compliance, or audit-driven enterprise platforms.\nCapital Markets or Banking industry experience.\nExperience contributing to enterprise DevOps standards, patterns, or cloud adoption strategies.\nPrior experience acting as a technical lead or mentor within a DevOps or platform team.\nWhat's in it for you?\nDiversity, Equity, Inclusion & Allyship - We strive to create an inclusive culture where every employee is empowered to reach their fullest potential, respected for who they are, and are embraced through bias-free practices and inclusive values across Scotiabank.
