In this exciting role, you’ll apply your analytical skills to design and develop applications that deliver excellence, effectiveness, and value to our business partners and customers.\nIn partnership with peer engineers, business partners, and the various GBME teams, you will:\nWork closely with Business Analysts and Technical Analysts team to understand business needs and solution and implement Data workflows and integration\nPartner with Architecture on the design and integration\nParticipate in data engineering and transformation design to ensure highly scalable, extensible, and performant solutions.\nContribute to existing data ingestion, transformation and extraction solutions in Salesforce Platform\nBuild/Maintain scalable data pipelines for both real time and batch using best practices in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes utilising various technologies.\nCreate impact analysis document, User stories, Design workflows for implementation\nDeliver and enhance new and current solutions and multi-system integration\nBe involved in the full life cycle of a project, responsible for producing actionable and complete specifications, writing production quality code, and implementation \nUnderstand existing database schema, identify gaps and recommend solutions\nDesign test sets and automate where possible (if needed)\nWrite deployment scripts and leverage tools such as the Accelerator pipeline to promote code\nSupport the solution in production (as and when required)\nImprove the end user experience by finding scalable solutions and addressing complex ad hoc queries.\nEffectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences\nAble to work with and refactor legacy implementations \nCoach and train end users (as needed).\nParticipate and run SCRUM Meetings (as needed). \nYou are passionate about developing applications that are reusable, efficient, and scalable, working in an innovated cross functional team environment.\nTechnical Qualifications\n\n5+ years’ of industry experience designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining large scale applications with complex integration as Data Engineer. \n5+ years’ of industry experience Design, implement and operate large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data structures for analytics\nExperience Data engineering in Salesforce platform\nExperience with 2 or more modern development languages in academic or recent work projects (Python, Java, etc.)\nExcellent understanding of database and data management concepts and technologies\n4+ years of Experience on working with Talend or similar ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) tools\nWorking experience with GitHub, JIRA, Confluence,DevOps, Jenkins pipelines, and code promotion\nExperience with UNIX Shell scripting in Sun Solaris/Linux environments\nExperience working in an Agile environment, with experience and understanding of Test-Driven Development methodology. \nBachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering or relevant experience.\nSoft Skills\n\nExcellent communication and presentation skills.\nWork as a contributing member of a team.\nValues quality, while still managing expectations and deliverables.\nOpen to ideas and gives and receives feedback well. \nWants to understand financial market.\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nExperience with some automated deployment. \nUnderstanding of networking protocols and security principles\nCapital Markets product knowledge\nCloud, Kubernetes experience\nWhat's in it for you?\n\nDiversity, Equity, Inclusion & Allyship - We strive to create an inclusive culture where every employee is empowered to reach their fullest potential, respected for who they are, and are embraced through bias-free practices and inclusive values across Scotiabank.
